I am doing an upcoming weekly column on roadside birds in our tundra-like
landscape and am hoping to include a picture of a horned lark.
Anyone willing to share a high resolution pic of one of these elusive
birds, please send it to me and I will make sure to credit you if used.
Thanks.

With this past weekend being the opening of duck hunting here in Minnesota,
based upon the hunters I spoke with, it seemed wood ducks, along with teal,
were the main birds bagged.
I thought I might write my Nature Nut column this week on Wood Ducks,
focusing on some of their other interesting natu
I am hoping to submit my Nature Nut column this week on starlings and
unfortunately overcast skies have not allowed me to get a good shot of a
starling in its brilliant winter plumage.
If anyone has a fairly high resolution European starling winter plumage pic
they would be willing to let me use I
Now that the Ivory Gull is apparently gone, I thought I would share some
info on all the excitement with readers here in SE.
Unfortunately I was unable to get to see the gull myself, but followed the
ten days of postings and hope someone might have a *high res* pic they
would be willing to share.
Greetings,
I am writing my weekly Nature Nut column on Horned Larks this week as they
are quite evident along area roads, but I suspect most of my readers have
no idea what they are.
Unfortunately, pics I have taken are not great so hoping someone might be

I am looking for a pic or two of a killdeer I might submit with my weekly
Nature Nut column. I decided to write on them the morning following the
last big snowstorm we had in March, about 10 inches. Before all roads had
been cleared, I traveled from Rochester to the Weaver backwaters and was

Greetings,
I am writing my column this week on nesting phoebes and a cowbird that
dominated the nest with two phoebe young.
I have a pretty good pic of the phoebe young dwarfed by the cowbird, but
adult phoebe pics are not very good, so would appreciate an adult pic if
anyone has one I can use.
After a recent encounter with a Shrike at my bird feeder, I decided this
might be a good bird for readers of my weekly Nature Nut column to learn
about.
Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of the fleeting Shrike, so if
anyone has one I might use, preferably a Northern in fairly high

On Sunday, March 19th I observed 60-70 kettling Turkey Vultures while biking in
NW Rochester. Ten minutes later I got a call from a friend who said there
were about 60 Turkey Vultures circling above his house and roosting in a
cottonwood tree in his backyard a mile from where I spotted them.
Snowy greetings;
With the movement of Snowy Owls again this year, maybe even more than what we
had four years ago, I have decided to write them up again in my weekly Nature
Nut column in the Rochester Post Bulletin, and am looking for a good picture to
include.
Anyone who can help by sending a
A presumably migrating group of three Common Loons were spotted on a small lake
behind a dam on the Zumbro River in downtown Rochester yesterday.
One of them appeared to be in full juvenile plumage.
Wondering how unusual this is.

I am looking for a picture of an American Bittern I can use in my upcoming
Nature Nut column on long-legged, long-necked birds.
If you have one of fairly high resolution, please send along with info on where
it was taken, and name to be credited, if used. Thanks to all who might send a
photo
Many of you have helped me over the past few years when I needed a bird pic for
my weekly Nature Nut column.
However, this time around I am hoping someone who has maybe done birding in
Texas or Florida might have gotten a picture of an Armadillo I could use to go
with the picture of a pile of
I don’t know if they are headed for Brownsville, but all day long I heard and
saw dozens of groups of. Swans flying over my backwater cabin in the Weaver
Bottoms between Weaver and Kellogg. I suspect I will hear them well into this
evening before snow possibly begins.

Doing my weekly column on Juncos and wondering if anyone has fairly high
resolution picture of an Oregon Junco. And, if anyone has a pic of one of the
more colorful Junco species not found around here, that might be fun to
include.
Thanks ahead to those who might send Junco pics, and I will
Greetings,
Looking to write this week on a common bird seen by few, Brown Creepers.
Would appreciate hi-res pic of a Creeper, but as a challenge, a possible pic of
a group of Creepers, and a real challenge, a Creeper nest, both much rarer than
just a Creeper

After reading the book, Mozart’s Starling, I am writing my next Nature Nut
column on Starlings and am in need of a picture of a Starling in its iridescent
breeding plumage without the cream color on the feather tips.
My editors prefer hi-res and I will let you know if a pic you submit is used
Greetings on this special day to many,
Writing a weekly column on Rough-legged Hawks and could use a pic or two if
anyone would like to share a hi-res pic with me.
If so, please note color phase and where photographed, as well as name to use
for credit if used.

I just walked around our local City Park, home to about a 150 resident geese,
and found four dead, and one almost dead, none of apparent cause.
Usually I only see an occasional dead one during hunting season, so assuming
this is the Avian Flu.
Anyone know if DNR or others are testing these de
