Several list members have questioned whether a black candidate can win
and become the councilmember for ward 3.
I believe that the results of the 2001 ward 5 campaign between
Cherryhomes and Johnson Lee show that message is more important than
race in determining who wins the ward 3 contest.

Thanks Tom- it's bad enough that we only have a couple
candidates from the neglected Northside precincts in the 3rd. Now
apparently we have carpetbaggers entering the race that don't even
live in the ward! If these folks entered the race by geopolitical
mistake they can gracefully withdraw and
Mea Culpa -- the 100 or so delegates were elected in March 2002, which
is not two years ago. Preliminary reports are that as many as 25 of them
have already moved. I may be overly optimistic -- but this does not
seem to me to be an accurate representation of the Democrats who live in
the Third War

displayed in the 3rd Ward council race.
As of yesterday at 5:00 PM 11 folks that have filed to run for the 3rd Ward
city council seat. 5 of them have not listed their address. Of them Margo
Ashmore, Dave Ramstad and Keri
Margo Ashmore, publisher of North News and the Northeaster,
filed for the 3rd Ward CM seat a couple of days ago. Margo's been
active in business groups and some community organizations on both sides
