Hi Tim,
if you want to exclude this host from the ping-servers hostgroup,
you should really exclude it from the hostgroup itself, i.e.:

Hi Tim,
I don't have a direct reply, but perhaps a hint in another direction to solve
your problem.
Personally, I don't like negations and I don't recommend them.
I left the hostgroup empty and assigned all hostgroups in the host definition.
This looks like

Actually it seems that the "hostgroups" parameter does not support negation.
I would go with Mark's answer instead, as that seems to work fine in my
tests.

The correct parameter for defining a host's hostgroups is "hostgroups",
not "hostgroup".
Try:
define host {
...
hostgroups !ping-servers
}
(Note the pural form, rather than singular)

Asam,
I have been using nagios for over 2 years now, never had any problem with
it. Until now, I have noticed my nagios server is a bit sluggish. A couple
of days ago, I added a host and a couple of services to it - nagios saw it
and later said the host wasn't added. I am having the similar situat

Hi Guys,
I just defined a hostgroup and added members to it. I have also added each

install-webconf" command, all went well. I then ran the "service httpd
restart" and it comes back up, but I get the following output:

Hi All,
Let's assume the below situation.

The three columns are here to stay unless someone writes a patch
modify the cgis or unless we move away from the cgi
I have 4 hostgroups.
The 1st has 10 hosts.
The 2nd has 5 hosts.
The 3rd has 10 hosts.
The 4th has 5 hosts.
The host group displays 3 columns and 2 rows even though it could fit the
4th hostgroup in the 1st row in the 2nd column below the 2nd hostgroup.
I am using an older nagios, has this been i
