Depending on peer traffic, it may make more sense to co-locate a switch at
a DC and then bring in some PNIs from your top usage peers. Check your
peer usage using something like AS-Stats.
Your top usage peers are going to be your most costly expense in the end...

I would use single fiber CWDM muxing and OADM, then you can get it down to
7-8 switches per fiber. CWDM single fiber has a max of 9 channels and the
optics are typically less expensive.

The outages in Texas are not uncommon at all. Its probably the worst vs
other areas of the country. One other problem area is between Ashburn and
Atlanta. We have been seeing more underlying LH carrier equipment
failures vs fiber cuts in the last year.

They have changed their policies from what I can tell. It was easier to
get IPs when there were none and you were buying from an auction but now
that they have them they want you to fill out a bunch of info and recertify

I would say that information is not 100% accurate. We use Telia for waves
nationwide and also have several DIA ingest(transit) points from them. If
anything, the IRU carriers they are using may have a problem sometimes due

Yes we have seen that response in the past on RFOs. Most of these random
outages are maintenance for moving fiber due to construction and they do
not tell you when it is going to happen, we have been complaining about
