I've never played with pixies before, but at first glance, they look like 10
individual neons wired with a common cathode. This arrangement is reverse to
how a Nixie is wired (10 cathodes, common anode) so you will need a little
bit of inventiveness to convert existing Nixie solutions to a Pixie

It's worth pointing out that I never spend any time at all worrying
about layout of this circuit, I just put the parts where they fit. This
power supply is very layout forgiving, unlike the MAX1771.

A quick google search:

Looks like if they have a slot, then they are probably spark gaps.

Hi Alex,
Another way of saying "Fusible" is to say "Flame Proof". I have had
poor luck finding such resistors on mouser because they don't allow you
to filter on that attribute, but Digikey will.
I'm not sure about the "Surge Protectors", but a high voltage cap sounds

Hi Folks
I blew up my DMM (fluke 77) by applying more than 1200 volts.
A "fuse resistor" blew up, in the manual it says
Res, MF, 1K, fusible (pn: FA8466)
it looks like a 2 watts resistor. I have searched on mouser , but nothing that
looks close.
there are also a pair of "Surge Protectors"

Hi,
so they actually ARE neon bulbs? What part lights up? The whole large
electrode? That's amazing. Does Dieter know about these? They probably
would've made a neat comma for his CD47 clocks.
