Dalibor is the king of new tubes these days!
I wonder if we should do a group trip and fly out to see him and his
factory!?
Maybe a new post is in order!

He's from TX and those are large tubes.
I think he should make it $300 for 6 of em so I can make another clock to
put next to the 1/2" high little Russian's!

I'm suspecting a hold-time violation on the serial-data input pin.
Some questions:
1. Are you running all supply (12V +/- 10%) and signal voltages (Vih > 10
volts, Vil < 2 volts) within datasheet specs. Some people have reported
using the HV5530 outside these requirements. Since you are using
Yes you can read the output of the serial chain then... It's kinda like
connecting your last smartsocket serial back to the Arduino or raspberry pi.
Same idea.

Thanks for your reply, Greg.
The CD4504 is used on all signal lines to the HV5530s.
Initially only the first HV5530 operated correctly.
I did not even think to run clock and data lines in opposite directions. I
did experiment using microsecond delays to slow the data transfers on all
GPIOs
Would appear that the seller changed his tactics...
Ha ha! I like your thinking.
$150 - $200 is probably a more reasonable price range, but hey, some people
just got to have 'em

Seller is smoking crack. Tube/tubes in those pictures looks like there's
some darkening on the sides of the glass envelope.
Potential buyers beware, this guy is shady based on my previous
experience.

If I was going to serially connect a bunch of HV5530's, then I would place
a rising-edge flip-flop between each serial-out to serial-in path. This
guarantees 1/2 cycle hold-time margin. Then I would run the last serial
output back into my microcontroller. That way, you can run diagnostic tests
I would buy Dalibor's tubes before these. Similar digit size and I'd rather
support him.

I think it says "Вольтметр универсальный В7-16" at the top. If you google
that, you can find some webpages with more info.
I do like the look of these multimeters, but the biggest challenge for
using them for me would be the 220V input

It has a 110V/220V switch at the back. Jens

Looking carefully at the photos you can see that the pins are somewhat bent
and if I see correctly it looks like the glass has cracked around a few of
the pins so they haven't been pulled out of their sockets in the proper way
and this might lead to leaky Nixies! There is some light reflecting

I have the first two books. I received them along with a ton of other stuff
when I went to neon school. Unfortunately, my career as a tube-bender never got
off

I picked up a 120 to 240V step-up transformer at Radio Shack years ago and use
it for many such things. I grabbed a second one on the cheap when they were
going out of
I've just about given up buying tubes. I can't justify the price, given
that I already have more than I will ever make clocks for. There are still
some models that I would like to get individual samples of though.

there are cyrillic keyboards online, you can use to type the text, then use
a translator to translate to the nearest English equivalent.
WAIVERSAM HEAT METER

Continuing the discussion on this old thread...
My 24 digit binary clock design had two, HV5530s separated by 12". The
first in the data series worked perfectly, but the second would not because
of too much noise on the data line. I had two unused level converters on
the CD4504 so I separated

martin martin,
Yes HP counters, 19" voltmeters, and smaller voltmeters; all with nixie
tubes.. I even have another HP counter hidden behind a stack of instruments
somewhere in the garage...
