I got in just in the nic of time... Pete was about to order boards and I'm
getting some. I ordered the two OG-4 boards as well. Thanks for the info.
This is perfect for some tubes. I actually have the sockets already but this
is great. Pete had me order the Dalibor sockets and put note in there to order
B-8091 instead. Perfect!

I have the manual for the 8300A and two units. Both of them have badly worn
tubes. There's so much metal on the inside on the inside of the lesser
significant digits that you can't even read them. I could slap together a
single working unit but none of the tubes would be the same brightness.
Somebody must have left them turned on for ages.

And now I have found that it was the ZM1263, I have found several other
references:

https://www.americanradiohistory.com/hd2/IDX-Site-Early-Radio/Archive-Wireless-World-IDX/70s/Wireless-World-1971-05-OCR-Page-0114.pdf

The ZM1263 is a side - viewing tube that contains symbols for alternating
(N), plus (+), mines (-) and a fourth symbol, consisting of a spiral of two
and a quarter turns for `equipment failed' or anything else that has no
con- ventional symbol.

I knew I had seen this somewhere, but it took me a while to find it:

https://mirror.thelifeofkenneth.com/lib/electronics_archive/MullardTubesSpecialProducts1972-73_text.pdf.

Search for ZM1263, you will find this:

ZM1263 In line, side-viewing indication Incorporates a red filter
Characters —, +, ~, * 10-5 170 140 2-5 Flying Lead '

* This is a symbol shaped like a Catherine-wheel on type ZM1263 that may be
used for special indications, e.g. fault condition.
