In the README.solaris file, there is a section about needing to install
perl. I have had to do this on a couple of systems but I've encountered
a problem. Where it advises:

capabilities of the final installation by doing the

Dave,
Thanks for your help. I've added that and it now appears to be working
OK.
My next problem is with the startup script. It appears to be set up
for Solaris 10 and I'm running this under Solaris 9. The startup script
supplied with the source isn't working and I was wondering if you'd be

OK,
I've worked out that the command "/usr/local/sbin/snmpd
/usr/local/share/snmp/snmpd.conf" is NOT the command to start net-snmp.
It should just be "/usr/local/sbin/snmpd". Thanks to Dave Shield for
confirming that.
I have also worked out that you should not have quotes around the server

I have managed to download and compile the net-snmp source files and I
believe it is working correctly. However, I note that after copying the
snmpd.conf file to the directory /usr/local/share/snmp, and starting
snmpd with the command " /usr/local/sbin/snmpd

I am attempting to install net-snmp for the first time. I have a Solaris 9
server which needs to be monitored by HP Openview. I have downloaded the
binary from sunfreeware.com and installed it.
I've followed the instructions to the point where I attempt the following

The xcode mailing list should get CC'd on any Darwin-specific bugs.
Also, can you post a URL to your config.log? That double

Maybe I need to send it to the snmp devels list also?
Thank you,

That's what I tell people when they file bug reports about Darwin.
"Next time, just install FreeBSD."

Nope that still doesn't work. I wouldn't think it would be so hard to
get something that is popular to install on any computer.
Thanks,
Thomas
Maybe try to figure out why it's passing both: "-arch i386 -arch ppc"
Some split personality syndrome going on.

Okay fix the first error what I end up doing was putting what it was
looking for in the file as defined at 1.
#define HAVE_SSIZE_T 1
So now when I run make I'm getting this error. Any ideas now.
rm -fr .libs/libnetsnmpagent.15.1.0.dylib .libs/libnetsnmpagent.
15.dylib .libs/libnetsnmpagent.a
