So I have the EXACT same issues as you described on my 84 that I just bought. Everything worked for a few days then the blinkers stopped blinking and the rest. Did you ever find out what it was? I'm almost certain I need a flasher relay but I have no idea why/how that would cause my brake light

They are about as rock solid as you can get. Just look for poor maintenance like dirty oil, rusty parts especially the fork tubes, difficult shifting, loose or binding in the steering.
