Thanks Joel, I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work, headed to my mechanic.
I'm towing it to Alaska for the summer and I'm running out of time to figure it
out myself

Good luck

The choke plungers can get stuck sometimes. Make sure they're all returning
all the way down when the choke is disengaged.

Tapping it with a screw driver worked, but is still impossible to move with
the hand. Idle is better but it will need to take the carbs off eventually
to fix this.

It is sometimes real hard to move Javier. If you can get a light under there
and then try just tapping it to tighten (increase idle) with a long screw
driver. That has worked for me on the tight ones. Otherwise turn the bike up
side down and work on it, Graham

Tach does not work or bounces all the time but seems to idle low, sounds
like a safe bet to turn up slightly to see if that helps.
Thanks.

Idle should be around 1000 - 1200 RPM, if your tach still works, lol. Yes there
is a knob under the carbs in the middle of the rack.

what does it idle at when warmed up? I have mine set at about 1100 rpms (2002
750) and yes there's one big screw in the middle under the carbs. Mine is warm
enough to be idling right after about two miles, Graham

What Graham said. If you're using the choke AND having to give it gas to
start, you have a problem that needs fixing because that is NOT normal.
My 93 idles @ ~900, for what it's worth.

1000 - 1100. Giving it gas to start in the morning is normal unless
you need to use the choke and then you don't give it gas at all.

* *I, too, have an 84 650 and keep the idle at around 1000. I agree with
Dale that charging doesn't happen until 2500. I ride almost daily and have
no problem with electricity. A good battery is key to good charging. I would
lower the idle. Wynn
