nmh new mail notification

hi, i been fiddling with this for a while now and have not been able to get it to fly so i thought i'd ask the experts. i'd like to get somekind of notice when i receive mail so i have this in my .maildelivery file * - ^ R /usr/bin/rcvtty -nobell* but this doesn't seem to do anything.

If you don't need notification right inside your xterm, Simon, you might look into an X-based utility like xbiff or xmailbox. They watch any mail file you tell them to -- for instance, the /var/spool/mail/simon file, the inbox folder (file) in Netscape, and so on. If you do need notification in
