I could open and close any files that I had created on Windows without any problem. But when I tried to open the .php, .css or other files that I had downloaded in a ZIP archive, it crashes. (I should mention that these same files are opening without any trouble in Notepad and Wordpad) I then created a file using vi on a shell account and downloaded that. It opened in Notepad++ without any trouble. But this file had CR LF characters as the EOL. So now I'm even more confused! (I used WinSCP to download the file from the server.) The ZIP version doesn't seem to create any folder in Application Data, so can you let me know which files I should email to you? Thanks! __ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I zipped the text file I had created earlier on the server and then downloaded the ZIP. Upon uncompressing the ZIP, the text file crashed Notepad++. Also this file had only the LF as the EOL. (When opened in Windows Notepad, it doesn't recognise that as a new line.) __

What retail products currently on the market (with retail support) compare to Notepad++? I really like all of the features of Notepad++, but my company will not let us install it because it is open source (freeware) and does not have retail support. So, instead of getting a free source editor, they want to purchase licenses for everyone in my group. Sounds silly, but I guess a lot off businesses do things this way. Does anybody have any suggestions? __ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I guess I could create a dummy menu but that seems hokey at best. So I guess it's an entry in the MISC options tab :( There seems to be a lot of these 'why isn't notepad++ like my editor of choice' posts. Maybe it would be worth (as a longer-term goal) having a 'compatibility' setting which would hide a load of really (too) detailed options under one simple heading. __ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Because of this, the normal Alt-F/O combination to open a file doesn't work. (It only selects Open, not actually executes Open.) __ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
