I disabled the Notepad ++ in the right-click menu. I would prefer that it appear
in the right-click menu --> "new" if it's possible?

I uninstalled Notepad++ and removed all mention of it from the registry
(including
things such as MRUs)

I then downloaded the ZIP version, unzipped it to a folder on my Desktop and
ran Notepad++ from there. I could open and close any files that I had created
on Windows without any problem. But when I tried to open the .php, .css or other
files that I had downloaded in a ZIP archive, it crashes. (I should mention
that these same files are opening without any trouble in Notepad and Wordpad)

I then created a file using vi on a shell account and downloaded that. It opened
in Notepad++ without any trouble. But this file had CR LF characters as the
EOL. So now I'm even more confused! (I used WinSCP to download the file from
the server.)

The ZIP version doesn't seem to create any folder in Application Data, so can
you let me know which files I should email to you?

Thanks!

Did some more testing... I zipped the text file I had created earlier on the
server and then downloaded the ZIP.

Upon uncompressing the ZIP, the text file crashed Notepad++. Also this file
had only the LF as the EOL. (When opened in Windows Notepad, it doesn't
recognise
that as a new line.)

I miss the book mark like the c++ builder 6, like CTRL+SHIFT+nr to mark and
the CTRL+nr to go to the marked place.

I have a stupid question... What retail products currently on the market (with
retail support) compare to Notepad++? I really like all of the features of
Notepad++, but my company will not let us install it because it is open source
(freeware) and does not have retail support. So, instead of getting a free
source editor, they want to purchase licenses for everyone in my group. Sounds
silly, but I guess a lot off businesses do things this way. Does anybody have
any suggestions?

Well having had a look at the source I can see my plan won't work because it
is not possible to have a command that is not initially mapped in the
accelerator
table and it seems it also needs to be included in a menu. I guess I could
create
a dummy menu but that seems hokey at best.

So I guess it's an entry in the MISC options tab :(

There seems to be a lot of these 'why isn't notepad++ like my editor of choice'
posts. Maybe it would be worth (as a longer-term goal) having a 'compatibility'
setting which would hide a load of really (too) detailed options under one
simple
heading.

"It's a sign of sloppy programming to have misspellings"

Then time to change the product name since "Notepad++" is not spelt correctly.
Don, please change all instances of "Notepad++" to "Notepad-Plus-Plus" while
you fix this "OK" issue.

Thanks,
Bob

Hey all,

The O accelerator key is bound under the File menu to both _Open and to Cl_ose
all. Because of this, the normal Alt-F/O combination to open a file doesn't
work. (It only selects Open, not actually executes Open.)
