I hadn't heard of a shorthand way to express the number of repeats of a marked
group or of a single char within a regex. Is there supposed to be a way to
do it? I always write out what I need (copy and paste repeatedly as nec).

Or perhaps search for existing messages about column mode if that's what he

Yes, the Column Editor may be what you want.
http://notepad-plus.wiki.sourceforge.net/FAQ includes a small discussion about
selecting column blocks. Then use Edit/Column Editor or alt+c to activate the
column editor. You can use it to insert or overwrite columns of text.

Actually a quick Google for Carbonize would give you my real name and what I
do where as you don't even have the courage to use a name other than
Nobody/Anonymous. But then I suppose that is appropriate as you are a total
nobody.

I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with you as you would just end up
dragging
me down to your level then beating me with experience. I'll wait for someone
with intelligence to respond before I return to this thread.

I don't think {7} is supported, so you'll just have to write it all out. See
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/regExpList.php for what's supported.
If you use regex a lot, you might also want to read
http://notepad-plus.wiki.sourceforge.net/FindReplaceNewlineHowTo for future
reference.

Greetings,

Lovely program for a PHP coder like myself!

Just thought I'd bring to your attention the following keywords that are
currently
missing from the PHP language defition and would further improve the readability
of highlighted code:
try catch throw exception final this clone __METHOD__ php_user_filter

All of those are as per the list of reserved words in the PHP manual:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/reserved.php

Regarding "magic" function names, I'm not certain what the policy is on
including
them in the language file; however I notice that the OO magic functions __sleep
and __wakeup are already included, whereas the following ones are not:
__construct __destruct __call __get __set __isset __unset __toString __set_state
__clone

To provide consistency of code highlighting to developers, may I suggest that
the OO magic function names be either all included or all eliminated? (I would
vote for eliminated, as they are not technically reserved words -- developers
may use them as function names and should understand the "magical" impact of
doing so.)

Lastly, the 'array' keyword is defined twice in the current language file,
though
it doesn't seem to break anything. :-)

Thanks for your attention!

John Chase

Fixes that error when the Config directory doesnt exist it gives an error at
startup that the settingsfile couldn't be created (Explorer ususally prevented
the error since it gets loaded before FTP_s and explorer does create the config
directory, but if the plugin directory also misses, Explorer doesnt create the
directory and so everthing goes wrong).

Perhaps you could save your templates from EditPlus as read-only files, open
them in Notepad++ and Save them As... as soon as you open them as "new"

It was not clear to me that you were talking about the reload document menu
option, since there is also a confirmation popup for the not-silent automatic
update feature.

I guess you could have simply phrased your question as: (how) can I create a
shortcut for the reload document menu option?

I did not say anything about moving the cursor.

Why does this request have to appear here AGAIN? This was asked some time before
as well.

Thanks for the answer, I now have a quicker way to switch tabs (and I know how
I could map keys to do it my way).

However, I still think that Notepad++ should by default also accept
Ctrl-PageUp/Down:

1- Ctrl-PageDown uses 2 keys, not three like Ctrl-Shift-Tab
2- Ctrl-PageUp is more widely used to switch tabs; for instance Excel only
accepts
Ctrl-PageUp, not Ctrl-tab (FireFox accepts both).
3- The difference between a great application (like Notepad++) and a fantastic
one (like FireFox) often lies in attention to such small usability details.

I do not have this problem at all. The
scrollbar works normal as in any other
program I have. I works on a short as
well a long line.

As I indicated to the post about the
CRTL-F find problem, I have always
installed the zipped download of
NotePad++. Also, to a root directory
named NotePad++.

BTW, on an XP Home mechine.

I can confirm that every time I've left Notepad++ open on my work machine and
the automated system updates (NOT the normal Microsoft Updates) does a system
reboot, I get the "load config.xml failed" msg.

I can also confirm that when this error appears the "\Documents and
Settings\\Application Data\Notepad++\config.xml" is of size zero and that
closing NP++, deleting the config.xml file, and opening NP++ again regenerates
the config.xml file INCLUDING my opened file history list.

I'd say Ben's code suggestion would probably do the trick - and if somebody
wants to do a build with it, I'm game to test it out since I have a repeatable
failure scenario available to me.

Hi

I have updated to the latest version (4.7.2) and also downloaded the User
Manual.

In the User Manual, the styler configurator is shown to be quite different (p13
in the PDF version).. and much more the kind of thing I was expecting to see.

The Styler configurator that comes from Settings->Stlyer Configurator is quite
different

Am I missing something? Is there a way to get the Configurator shown in the
userManual?

Thanks

Or you could use the Simple Script plugin.

(Disclaimer: I'm the developer of Simple Script)

I added the beginline and endline functions specifically for tasks like this,
because I find it easier to remember a single function name than the syntax
for the regular expression. In this case, the script would be:

beginline("rmdir /s /q ")

I can't believe at the number of posts I have read with people requesting
legitamate
features, or ones they would like to see - only being responded to by some
moronic
people who seem to have nothing better to do.

I really don't understand why they even bother to respond, as it serves no
benefits
to anyone. The forum may contain its more professional people if usernames
are compulsory and ability is given to administrators to ban these useless
posters.

I too would like to see the original posters features added - I am sure it would
make the application much more appealing.

If I do understand, the same bug existed since v0.9.5.0 ?
Or it is just a regression?

Could you test v0.9.5.2 entirely to make sure it's a bug free?
With your confirmation, I'll do another release this weekend.

Don

All nice but did anyone check if the pipe | does work in Notepad++, similar
as someone dropping a link here to some general regex documentation, which may
not at all apply to Notepad++. I think this is not very much helping in solving
the real problem here.

Yes, you are missing some developing history on Notepad++. I think there may
be some parts of both the picture and the real dialog which appear to have some
similarity.

You'll have to work on the real dialog anyway, so just try that.
