Even I, a person with pretty much no entreprenurial sense whatsoever, knew that the $25 membership was a bad long-term business move. Sadly, those new to the Prince way of thinking probably believed that lifetime meant THEIR lifetime, not the lifetime of his attentian span. I do think if he

Basically he can offer space for advertisements to offset the cost of some things while providing a more substantial content to keep people coming back in. and maybe a monthly fee like 9.99 a month for membership. And for gods sake offer some of the music he has in his vault that hasn't been

I'm with ya on this one. 2004 was a slammin' year with all the hype attached. But, this is a good way to weed out the ones who were just there for the joy ride. Even when the club was $100 a year, you knew only the hardcore fans would be crazy enough to join and keep the club alive.

Thank u so much 4 sharing this. I never got a chance 2 read rainbowchild7's post. I was 2 busy saying Prince should go home 2 Minnesota. Very selfish of me but I couldn't help it. I was just so tired of the whole hollywood thing that I sorta 4got about the big picture. ~B. On 7/3/06, Amil [EMAIL

I for one have dedicated too much time, and money to just say to hell with it when stuff like this happens. The hardcore fans will be there through the good and the bad decisions Prince makes in his career. The $25 dollar lifetime thing was destined to crash burn from a business perspective.

Bad business move? Wasn't he the earn the most that year for his Musicology tour? $93,000,000 I believe. Modereator: It was quoted as 87.4 million. He made that the club didn't make that. It doesn't look like he put any of that money back into club either. -Derek -Original Message-

To get around the lifetime thing, he will probably have to change the name, but 3121 doesn't seem to have the longevity as Prince's other imagined communities like Paisley Park or NPG. Hell, he hasn't even seemed interested in promoting 3121 as an album, much less a website. Then again, didn't
