Not thinking about whether we've jacked his stash or not. Not everybody has had the opportunity to do that. It began with an email telling me that I had been cordially invited to Princes mansion. Yes it said exactly that and a few other things. It was like Eyes Wide Shut in that there is this mansion, strange but intriguing things are said to go on there, and its private. We ended at a dead end mansion under construction and then even went to an old mansion with a lock on its with old creeping trees on it. I definitely felt like it was a hoax. I'm like what the hell is going on? I was actually ready to call it a night and go eat somewhere in Hollywood as it was nearing the stated 8 p.m. starting time. Finally I flagged down a cop as I was making a major traffic violation. I told him I was looking for Princes house lol. He stated that prince had several addresses. He was kind enough to lead us to the final street area address. I knew this was the right place. .. .. They asked for my name and looked on a list. Of course we did not have a password like Fidelio in the movie but I gave them my name as password, rdhull. They let us go in. We drove up to the gates of the neighborhood just like in Eyes Wide Shut where Tom Cruise has to enter using his mask. The gates are like a mile from the houses. Now this neighborhood was not any neighborhood..this is where folks who never have to work another day in their life nor will their family, lives. Someone asked before I left where I planned to park as Beverly Hills is notorious for no parking on it's streets. Oh no, this wasn't that same area Bev Hills folks are accustomed to. We pull in to the house into the circular driveway area with fountain. It's a sprawling mansion. I expected someone to greet me with Welcome Mr. Bond, we've been expecting you. I was at the Purple Casino Royale. We walked up the steps into the house and were greeted by security/staff. They opened the door and told us told everyone's in the kitchen. Me and my better half were just looking at each other as we walked down the marble floored hall to where we heard some voices, walking as if were in the FBI building at Langley lol. We felt at any minute someone would tell us Um excuse me, you have to leave lol. Of course the kitchen is huge and elaborate..with a center block big enough to seat 20 people or so. The cooks are cooking, the drinks are flowing, the conversation is going. We choose to sit in the living room right next to the kitchen. It's a huge open space. Prince music is being pumped through built in wall speakers. Band members walk in, walk out, Bria Valentine, dj Rasheeda, (I asked her later remember me from BET Aftershow?) she was so nice tonight lol. We first met two people from the Huffington Post who were pleased to see some other people arrive. They were very pleasant to talk with. We all felt like our initial invites were a hoax.but the Huffington post guy came from NY and brought a colleague on this might be real or might not be real invitation. Whoah-C Neo. We talked a while. Amorbella from Prince.org came and told us her friend named Pej was coming. I immediately lit up lol. Oh boy, is this great !-CFlounder/Animal House. It was like Eyes Wide Shut again because an old friend is at the mansion as well. And my missus and Amor went through the house just looking casually like Tom did. I wonder if they saw any orgies haha. They saw and talked to Prince a bit though. Everyone was relaxed, normal, as well as Mr. Purple himself. He was pleasant, at ease, friendly.and why not? He was at home. Hor Deuverves were being served and made by two chefs. Skewered pastas (yes skewered pasta), stuffed mushrooms, other delights. A drink server was ever so gracious bringing us drinks all night. I had to use the restroom ( I was thinking..oh lawd..I am pooping in Princes house. How mortifying). After I come around the corner using the facilities, there's Pej, all dapper in a fedora no less. I immediately started laughing as I walked towards him and we hugged like in Eyes Wide Shut. It was a great show and at least we were invited. I hear about these other shows that occur at his house and I didn't get an invite. At least invite me and let me decide if I can afford to go. Invite the people who are actually going to buy the product. Most of these celebs could care less about his next album unless they're getting in free, getting a free copy, can use the event for their own personal screen time or they think it will up their popularity or exposure. I thought everyone paid at a charity event. What kinda hypocrite goes to a charity event and doesn't contribute to the cause? I know Sam Talbot paid for him and his girlfriend. But he's not big time known. Those people had to pay or Prince would lose money paying for the venue. Plus I saw people paying at the table in the back and they weren't fans. Too many pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes stumbling on those horrible cobblestones through our little crowd to the door. I don't care how many celeb events he hosts, I just want us to get invites to at least some. Even if I can't afford to go. When you concentrate all your energy on something, you draw it to your spirit--draw it closer to you and into your creative universe. This is how people become successful at achieving the things they are most obsessed with. The things they put a lot of time and energy into. Prince focuses so much of his energy on legal matters and the workings of the law; he's going to become very successful at being sued. I'm not saying these cases will be successful at suing him, it's just that people are beginning to hate his legal bullying so much that they will be thinking of any way possible to sue him. I understand him wanting to protect his music but I don't think these lawyers he's hiring are really thinking of his best interest in the long run. These are just quick fixes for his anger at having a lack of control over his music; which should no longer exist since he's out of the WB contract. But it still exists as residual of that situation. He's still responding to the industry like he's trapped in that contract. He's not responding like a free man. He's constantly on the defensive and as a result of that is pushing away his own artistic freedom and the avenues that allow him this. Under the ruling, Prince must stop distributing the song on Italian territory. He also faces having to pay the royalties he has so far accumulated to Bergonzi and Vicino and their publishers, but only if a final hearing confirms the Italian songwriting duo was plagiarized. Our song was first released in 1983, at the height of the Italian dance boom and it appeared on assorted compilations that were distributed internationally, Bergonzi tells Billboard.com. When we first heard Prince's song we immediately took action, but this case has been dragging on for 15 years and it isn't over yet, such is the slowness of the Italian legal system. We only decided to go public with our story now. The ruling is in fact an appeal against the original sentence, which, in 2003, rejected Bergonzi and Vicino's claim. This latest ruling was actually made in December 2007 and registered on Feb. 11 last year, but Bergonzi and Vicino have only now spoken out. For a sentence to become definitive in Italy, a third degree ruling is necessary and this could take several more years. When the case began, publishing for both sides in Italy was handled by Warner/Chappell, in the form of Fortissimo (on behalf of Controversy Music) for Prince, and Chappell for Bergonzi and Vicino. However, Controversy Music and Prince are now represented by Universal Music Publishing. We are waiting to see the outcome of the third and final sentence, Universal Music Publishing Italy managing director Claudio Buja tells Billboard.com. We're wary of making a comment at this stage, but I can say that plagiarism cases are invariably delicate and difficult. They can go to that wax museum on 42nd street. Madame Tussuad's. They have a Prince section playing 1999 the last time I went. But it was kinda scary to me. I don't like those wax things. I took a picture with the Prince one, while all the while complaining that his shoes were scuffed and dirty and the era was just old. But then I looked at the face and the eyes scared me. I really enjoyed the intimacy of the aftershows and the food was great. I'm a big jazz buff and the band was fantastic but I would rather hear Prince sing more than he did. He played, and that was cool but there were very few of his songs and the singing on his part was very minimal. I'm ok with the jazz aspects and the long jams as long as he's playing his songs. What happened 2 the NEWS, C-NOTE and Xpectation material? It's like he 4got he recorded those things. Cuts from those albums r in heavy rotation on my Ipod. I enjoy a cover or 2. The Best of U And All Along The Watchtower were stellar, but don't get ridiculous. And I don't mind a protege but he doesn't know when 2 stop shoving other people down our throats. And he does shove. It's nice 2 see new faces and hear new voices but change it up. Don't threaten us with the same person every night until that person makes us want 2 hurl rocks at them. I enjoyed seeing Kip Blackshire sing at the aftershow when I was in Vegas. It was a refreshing treat. We tried 2 talk him into doing a show in New York. I like the new girl singer (although that Superbowl white 70's OUTfit and her frantic rain-dance sprinting had me picking up rocks) But I like her because she can sing, but I don't want her showcased heavily every night. Give her a song or two every other show and I'm cool with that. I enjoyed Tamar but that doesn't mean I want another Tamar featuring Prince show. That was OD. That's so funny that u say that Porsche. That was my exact reason. I would have gotten the $125 price though because as soon as they went on sale I pulled up the info from the last time I went and was about to call the Rio. I was going 2 buy them, but then I said I keep promising I will fix up my place so I can have parties and invite friends over for dinner and I never do. I hung up the phone.
