Just a thought, we are leaking goal so why wouldn't MM try and play 5-3-2 ?

2009-11-08 Thread Paul Taylor

I think we have the quality in the squad, although some strengthening will
help. Every game against a bottom half team is a 6 pointer as far as I'm
concerned. A couple of back to backs and we'll quickly move up 4 or 5 spots.
I'm still confident.

Paul is right - we were very good in the first 25 mins against Arsenal,
although we should have taken our chances. Oh for Berra to have scored and for
us to have our tails up. No doubt it still may have ended up 4-1. We got stuck
in though and had a good go, and I reckon there'll be a few sides on the end of
some bigger thumpings in the season (hopefully not us in the return game).

I like watching Arsenal though - they are silky smooth in their play, and it
reminds me of how they were in 2003/2004. Van Persie looks to be the new Henri.

I knew I'd used up all my luck with The Mariners winning on Saturday night.

results really didn't go our way on the weekend and we're now in 19th position.
Bolton, Birmingham and Blackburn all have a game in hand over us.

Quick poll - yes or no answer. Do we have the quality to get ourselves out of
the bottom 3 and stay up?

[NSWolves] Re: weekend results

2009-11-08 Thread Marcus Chantry
Arsenal are averaging 3.3 goals per game so we were only slightly worse
than the average. There were periods of the game where we didn't look
out of our depth (first 25 minutes) but as the commentators said
throughout, when you're in the Premier League you HAVE to take your
chances... we didn't and got punished by a very good side who I reckon
have the ability and depth to challenge for the title this season. It
was kind of a perverse sensation because at time I was enjoying watching
them give us a lesson in one-touch football, very fast and very smooth.

2009-11-08 Thread Butch

As already stated we did ok for the first half hour but lets face it
any points we pick up against Arsenal or Chelsea are a big bonus. The
fact that MM played 4 centrally minded players in midfield to try and
combat the threat of Arsenal left us very narrow at times I thought.
Not that it would have made any difference thoughwhat Arsenal did
to us they could easily do against 90% of the teams in the Prem.

The two upcoming home games are massive and yes I believe we can
remain in this division. After spending so many years in the fizzy pop
league we have to be optimistic!!!

No, we're going down. I've been broken.

We play some nice football, but like Albion last year, it's not enough. I
don't see this side changing to start scoring lots of goals and not letting
so many in.

As has been pointed out on here and elsewhere, the next three games against
Birmingham, Bolton and Burney are so important. I can't see us getting
points off the rest of the teams we have to play in this half of the season
so those three games are vital.

I'm not sure which area we'd strengthen in January. The whole side seems to
be good on paper but it's not working as a team. I've got no complaints
with the players bought in or their contribution

I'm hoping that Mick will balls up the team sheet and some magical
combination of players will suddenly be great.

I
agree
this this, thought Wolves played well for the first 20+ minutes. Except
we did
struggle in front of goal, Seb will find it hard in this division.

Both own goals were pure bad luck and against Arsenal thats a huge
mountain to
climb.

MM, will have to buy another premier league striker and a midfield in
January if we are to survive..

I think we will but by how much..a few points.

positives from the pre-season results reports.

But I'll not be disheartened until I've watched us perform on TV.

I don't think MM wants us to play like Stoke or copy their tactics. What I
think he meant from his comments is that he wants us to emulate Stoke's
success last year in staying up!

If you think MM is going to play Long ball, hit hope type tactics then
you will be in for a surprise! SEB and Doyle are not the tallest of
striker's and not suited to the long ball game. MM will try and use the
wings, when possible, to get behind defences and have SEB and Doyle coming
onto balls instead of having their backs to goal.

If we were going to play long ball stuff all the time he would have signed
that 6ft 7 Austrian chap. Long ball will be an option if Iwelumo plays.

Subject: [NSWolves] Re: Weekend results?

Personally, all I want is for us to play attacking football and entertain
all of us here watching on TV.

If we are unlucky and do go down at the end of the season then at least we
will have gone down fighting.

I haven't entered full pessimism mode yet as I want to watch them with my
own eyes on Saturday night. Then I'll have Premier League evidence as to
whether we've got enough gumption to stay in the division. We should
hopefully be able to take a point or more playing at home to a potential
mid-table team like West Ham, but I'm struggling to find many positives from
the pre-season results reports.

But I'll not be disheartened until I've watched us perform on TV.

Marcus, I suggest you don't get disheartened even after watching the
performance on Saturday.

You were wrong about Wolves all through last season and unless you've been
on a football management course during the off-season there's nothing to
suggest your analysis will be any better this season.

You should just see it like George did in the Seinfeld episode The
Opposite. If you feel down-hearted, just comfort yourself by saying *I'm
usually wrong in my interpretation of football so if I think they were no
good then they are probably really good*.

Personally speaking - I was happier before that last post.

But Europe does sound nice

Marcus, I suggest you don't get disheartened even after watching the
performance on Saturday.

You were wrong about Wolves all through last season and unless you've been
on a football management course during the off-season there's nothing to
suggest your analysis will be any better this season.

You should just see it like George did in the Seinfeld episode The
Opposite. If you feel down-hearted, just comfort yourself by saying I'm
usually wrong in my interpretation of football so if I think they were no
good then they are probably really good.

2009/8/10 Marcus Chantry marcus.chan...@macquarie.com

I haven't entered full pessimism mode yet as I want to watch them with my
own eyes on Saturday night. Then I'll have Premier League evidence as to
whether we've got enough gumption to stay in the division. We should
hopefully be able to take a point or more playing at home to a potential
mid-table team like West Ham, but I'm struggling to find many positives from
the pre-season results reports.

But I'll not be disheartened until I've watched us perform on TV.

I haven't entered full pessimism mode yet as I want to watch
them with my own eyes on Saturday night. Then I'll have Premier League
evidence as to whether we've got enough gumption to stay in the
division. We should hopefully be able to take a point or more playing
at home to a potential mid-table team like West Ham, but I'm struggling
to find many positives from the pre-season

I was thinking more on the lines of waking your misses up during the half
time break to do the necessary whilst you partake of said porn on TV!

The counundrum then is:

You hear your missus about to walk in on you having a tug to porn on TV but
you haven't got time to cover up. Do you switch back to the match and
pretend you really like Wolves?

The Adult ones might be useful to flick to as well, especially when we are
getting thumped!

I've got Foxtel but haven't been bothered about the sport until now. I'll
have to get the missus some lifestyle channels too to compensate.

Don't worry Steve, it's just a RED button option on your Foxtel control.

Some good deals going around at the moment, you should be able to get
install for free and maybe the first month free as well!!

How does the viewers choice work? Is it just redbutton stuff or does it
work like payperview movies?

I'm debating whether to get Fox Sports but as we don't have phone connection
with Foxtel I'm not sure viewers choice will work.

Anyone know?

Thanks, I've just found this somewhere else. Don't know how accurate it is
(came from a Hammers fan).

Yes, it was advertised over the weekend as being one of the options on
viewers choice.

Usually they list the viewer's choice on their website also. But not so far.

But I'll not be disheartened until I've watched us perform on TV.

Good wind up Marcus. How long did you sit next to JIWAL in Perth?

We haven't even kicked a ball yet and pessimism prevails!!
