independant horizontal and vertical offsets in TABLE-cells. Or even
topoffset, bottomoffset, leftoffset and rightoffset.

Thanks for the tip about \high. That works (and looks cleaner in the
source file too). But

still chokes on \overbar and returns the “insufficient symbol fonts”
