I don't mind experimenting with it.
e.g. I try to change the font color in existing pdf documents from black
to blue.

At the moment my workaround is using mutool to export pages to svg.
mutool convert -o page.svg -F svg input.pdf

then change the font color

the \dontleavehmode construction works fine as it allows me to set the
width.

Now I try to use the thumb image as the 'button' to open the full
rendered page in an external pdf at a give page.
But my Linux pdf viewer just notice that there is a hyperlink, but will
not even open the pdf. Let alone jumping to the intended page.

mupdf does not respond to the link either
Is this even possible?

Does any one know an answer?

When wrapping a page in \startTEXpage the empty lines
disappear.
There is probably a reason to it.
Any hints as to remove that difference?

e.g.

Hello All,

I have published the new VSCode Extension for ConTeXt, that I presented
during the 2022 ConTeXt meeting -

https://wiki.contextgarden.net/VSCode

You can install it manually in the VSCode (using the "Install from
VSIX..." option).
Documentation (for now) -
https://meeting.contextgarden.net/2022/talks/ramkumar/ramkumar-talk.pdf

This supports ConTeXt markup and for any Lua code (within
\startluacode & \stopluacode) it re-directs to the Lua Language Server
(from Sumneko - https://github.com/sumneko/lua-language-server
 )

To Do -

 1. Make the source code open-source
 2. Add new features (like Hover & Tooltip)
 3. Work with Taco to add MetaPost Language Server (this could be
challenging and interesting)

Do give this a try and give your feedback. Note that this does not
contain *all* the macros but covers the vast majority of the ConTeXt
commands.

Thank you,

best regards
Ramkumar

What could be causing this?

Most likely, the website simply does not support HTTPS.
It’s also possible that an attacker is involved. If you decide to

If you continue, HTTPS-Only Mode will be turned off temporarily for this

Re: [NTG-context] metafun: circular arc

2021-10-05 Thread Floris van Manen via ntg-context

In the example the text is drawn as:

draw followtext(q, "\strut TEXT ONE")

it looks as if the \strut generates a space before the text.
e.g. if you omit the \strut, the text will align at the start point.
In my perception, the \strut is a zero width box, so it should not
generate the space before.

But I might be wrong here (most likely ;-)

[NTG-context] [installing lmtx on raspi400]

2021-05-13 Thread Floris van Manen

No desktop system is complete before having a proper lmtx installed ;-)

So with this OS version

$ uname -a
Linux rp400 5.10.17-v8+ #1414 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 30 13:23:25 BST 2021
aarch64 GNU/Linux

$ hostnamectl
   Static hostname: rp400
 Icon name: computer
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
Kernel: Linux 5.10.17-v8+
  Architecture: arm64

I downloaded
context-linux-aarch64.zip

unzipped it in the ~/context folder and ran the install.sh script

$ sudo sh ./install.sh

this gives an error:

/home/pi/context/bin/mtxrun: /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version

Anyone with a hint ?

Would it be possible to have a simple text file with the latest release
version (or date) tag in it? Next to the folder containing the actual
install script files? In that case it is easy to check that version tag
by comparing with the local copy and decide if a further download and

Apparently the thin/bold/italics combination does not work.
I assume this is defined in a ibmplex-thin file somwhere.
If so, where is that file located?
What is the formula to derive ibmplex-thin from the underlying font files?

Your example works as intended.

I really get lost in the font definition files, as it is difficult to
understand which variable point to what other definition.

Is there a (simple) picture where the scripts are annotated with arrows,
to know which variable points to where? All the way back to the

With all the options available it is a steep learning curve, but i hope
to be able to understand it at some point.

Thanks for the working solution.

[NTG-context] extracting pages using luacode

2020-04-25 Thread Floris van Manen
I'm trying to extract pages from an existing pdf using lua.
But this approach to extract pages 11 and 30 does not work:

\starttext
\startluacode
for i, blz in ipairs({11, 30}) do
  context.startTEXpage()
  context.externalfigure("my_pdf.pdf", page=blz)
  context.stopTEXpage()
end
\stopluacode
\stoptext

Where am I missing the point?

\blackrule[width=15mm,height=1mm,depth=0mm,color=green]\quad%

The thing is that in print the CMYK will result in a fixed well defined
object: a physical print on paper. That is then the reference.
The complete chain of getting the information into print is well defined.

Compare that to the world of digital monitor viewing.
None is well defined, every monitor and platform has its own unknown
settings. How would you translate those into a printed document?

So my point was that it might be more convenient to first create the
publication for print, then let individual pdf browsers do their trick
in their own environment rendering the CMYK into RGB or whatever...

Unless it is fun to do both of course...

As in print the default is CMYK, why not start there.
The online might be RGB but all pdf viewers know how to deal with the
convertion from CMYK to RGB by themselves.

Why not draw the match as a picture first, then rotate and shift that
picture?
Also, if you use a local scale unit, it will be easier to stach the
matches together by merely applying a factor in match units.

[NTG-context] [HOWTO] spanning xtable cells

2020-01-30 Thread Floris van Manen
Does anyone knows a hint to get the stacked boxes to the correct size?
When usinig non-zero values for the options
spaceinbetween and/or columndistance
the cells of the xtable will not properly size when spanning over rows
and/or columns.

e.g.

\starttext

\startxtable[spaceinbetween=2mm, columndistance=2mm, corner=round]
  \startxtablebody
\startxrow
  \startxcell[ny=3] a1\stopxcell
  \startxcell[nx=2] a2/3 \stopxcell
  \startxcell[ny=3] a4\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
  \startxcell b2 \stopxcell
  \startxcell b3 \stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
  \startxcell c2 \stopxcell
  \startxcell c3 \stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
  \startxcell[nx=3] d1/2/3 \stopxcell
  \startxcell d4 \stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
  \startxcell e1 \stopxcell
  \startxcell e2 \stopxcell
  \startxcell e3 \stopxcell
  \startxcell e4 \stopxcell
\stopxrow
  \stopxtablebody

[NTG-context] [question] \clipping some data from a pdf

2020-01-28 Thread Floris van Manen
Does anyone know?

Using the latest LMTX, i try to clip some portion of an external pdf
page, then resize that portion on top a new page.
i use the \clip command.

\starttext
\scale[width=100mm, hwight=100mm]{\clip[width=150mm, height=120mm,
hoffset=30mm, voffset=40mm]{\externalfigure[drawing.pdf]}} % incorrect

\scale[width=100mm, hwight=100mm]{\clip[width=150mm, height=120mm,
hoffset=30mm, voffset=136mm]{\externalfigure[drawing.pdf]}} % correct
\stoptext

I noticed that the voffset parameter *always* counts from the top/left
of the external source. Also if the source has its origin defined at the
lower/left corner.
Is that intentional?

It is confusing as when i place a rectangle on top of the clip i want to
extract from the source pdf, the x,w,w,h of that rectangle will not
match the parameter needed for the \clip command.

Or does there happen to be some snazzy tool out there to get the
coordinates of embedden images within a pdf?
