So, is it possible to have the Google search engine at context garden also look into the manuals? Not that I know of. If somebody could give me a hint (google-link), I can put these in. Until there is a combined search on contextgarden, you can go to http://articles.contextgarden.net and search through all manuals. Re: [NTG-context] Story of a newbie looking for a table
Hello, what you can do is: get a local copy of all manuals and then there is a small program available called docsearcher (is written in java, so it should run on all platforms) http://sourceforge.net/projects/docsearcher/ I don't use it on the manuals, because after some time you know which one could contain a solution for your problem. But it is nice when you have a lot of literature in pdf format. It is also also a nice solution to use googles advanced search options, where you can limit the search on a specified location. Wolfgang Jérôme Laurens schrieb: Hi (bis) I'd like to share my newbie experience about tables. Unfortunately, once I saved the document, iPages could no longer open it anymore... :-( I then spent a pair of pair of hours (minus half an hour) to try to repair things... with no success. With ConTeXt, I spent a pair of pair of hours (minus half an hour) trying to design my table, and less than half an hour to fill it. Now the work is complete. :-) But I am not really satisfied, I feel frustrated because I have the impression that it took me too much time. It appears that neither texshow nor garden did help me. So I digged into standard Google, and it pointed me to the context mailing list archive, finally pointing me to the name of the right manual at pragma ADE. Fortunately, this up-to-date manual was online . Once, my work was complete, I understood that the Google search on context garden wiki was limited to context garden... I then found that some information I was missing about tables was on the context garden tabulate page...:-/ But I have the impression that the manuals do contain much more than available on contextgarden. And there ß and öäü is working. I really have to state that I don't understand the font font handling completely but I think some things changed here in the last time. If this works, it's necessary to add support for OT1 (if this is not already default), see http://source.contextgarden.net/enco-ec.tex for example. Re: [NTG-context] fonts installation
Hello Robert, I think that is the same problem I had add \usetypescript [adobekb][\defaultencoding] \definetypeface[hudson][rm][serif][palatino][default] \setupbodyfont[hudson,12pt,rm] to your code. Tomething like this will work too: \usetypescript [adobekb][\defaultencoding] \usetypescript[palatino][\defaultencoding] \setupbodyfont[palatino,12pt] This was the final solution from Patrick last day. I also looked in the file cont-sys.tex and added the line \autoloadmapfilestrue. It does not make any difference. Attached the test file and the log file. Thanks again! Re: [NTG-context] using fonts
with miktex there is a path C:\texmf\fonts\tfm\urw with some subfolders, but all of them are empty. For example Helvetica is located C:\texmf\fonts\tfm\adobe\helvetic and all files starting with "p". I think that was the problem with selecting fonts on my system. I got some info from the miktex forum: the font: uplr8t is a replacement for the adobe font. The Adobe font is called pplr8t.tfm So I still not for sure where the error comes from - false font names - missing font names What do you think? The sources are in fonts/psfonts/psnfss-source, but have to be generated by a makefile, wich needs some modification on my linux box. Would it make sense to create the metrics and put the online? [NTG-context] using fonts
Hello, I think I´mgetting confused with all of the font selection within context. First: I have a miktex environment on on W2K. 1. to change single fonts: \definetypeface [palatino] [rm] [serif] [palatino] [default] [encoding=ec] \switchtotypeface[palatino][12pt,rm] results in an error that the font is not found (font: uplr8t) on my system following files are available: uplr8a.afm uplr8v.tfm uplr8v.pfb uplr8a.pfb uplr8v.htf but I think tfm is needed 2. I thought that the default encoding should be texnansi I tried that but context is looking for texnansi-uhvr8a (here for helvet). The font uhvr8a is on my system. 3. should be there some font-switching macros on the system called font-xxx.tex (example font-lbr.tex)? These are missing on my system. I think these are needed forthings like: \setupbodyfont[lbr, sans, 12pt] 4. within miktex there are "lucida" font files from yandy (lbr.tfm ). Is that a free version of lucida-font? (is that for math? [there is anotherfile called math-lbt.tex in \context\base]) Summary: do I need to get the missing fonts/files and why are they not provided with miktex. Perhaps a change of the distribution is to prefer? (which one) Is there a manual which explains how to change fonts (in a way that a normal user who is new to context can understand it)? Hi, I have some problems with scite: compiling is not working. I get this error message: >texmfstart texexec.pl --pdf test.tex >Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden. If I start this in comand promt I get a long message (see at the end of this mail). The script is complaining about "unknown file type: texmfscripts" but an output is generated. Why is it not working from scite? thanks for your help Wolfgang Zillig here output of cmd: C:\temp\cont>texmfstart texexec.pl --pdf test.tex unknown file type: texmfscripts TeXExec 4.4 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2004 unknown file type: texmfscripts executable : pdfetex format : cont-en inputfile : test output : pdftex interface : en current mode : none TeX run : 1 This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.20a-2.2 (MiKTeX 2.4) output format initialized to DVI entering extended mode (test.tex ConTeXt ver: 2004.8.15 fmt: 2004.11.30 int: english mes: english language : language en is active system : cont-new loaded (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\cont-new.tex systems: beware: some patches loaded from cont-new.tex! color : palette rollover is available system (E-TEX) : [line 567] system (E-TEX) : [line 622] ) system : cont-old loaded (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\cont-old.tex loading: Context Old Macros ) system : cont-fil loaded (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\cont-fil.tex loading: Context File Synonyms ) bodyfont : 12pt rm is loaded language : patterns 2:2-en-2 4:2-de-2 5:2-fr-2 6:2-es-2 7:2-it-2 8:2-nl-2 loaded specials : tex, postscript, rokicki loaded system : test.top loaded (./test.top specials : loading definition file tpd (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\spec-tpd.tex specials : loading definition file fdf (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\spec-fdf.tex system (E-TEX) : [line 2253] \ifcsname ) specials : fdf loaded ) specials : fdf,tpd loaded ) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) (./test.tuo) fonts : needs map file: ec-public-lm.map fonts : needs map file: original-base.map systems: begin file test at line 4 [1.1{psfonts.map}] systems: end file test at line 11 system : cont-err loaded (C:\texmf\tex\context\base\cont-err.tex >>>> I cannot locate your local setup file.
