Hi,
When buying a new workstation would I benefit more from a CPU with higher
clock speed and less cores or do more cores with lower speed give me
overall more render speed?
Or is this all a "depends on" question?

Sounds like the OFX version uses normalized pixel position instead of
absolute ones.
You would need to to divide your image resolution by the tracked position
to get the normalized coordinates

I think what a lot of people want to see is more on keying. You know the
real world thing: different patches of green, actors outside the green,
brighter or darker background to insert, motion blur, fine hair,...
I also know it's hard to have this kind of material with clearance to use

Wild guess is because this enforces “cost plus”
you could 3d track the camera
then use this orignal solved camera to project the image onto a plane in
front of the camera
then make a copy of the solved camera and smooth the animation curves
use the smooth camera to rerender the projected image

i think what Randy wants is not all elements of the FBX in one node,
rather than a nodetree of all elements in the FBX. with all objects,
axis, nulls, etc seperated but connected as a tree of nodes.
as he said you can do this in other apps (Flame, Fusion)

you did nothing wrong with you setup.
the env reflection is just a look up on the env sphere from the normal
of the surface. because on a plane all normals look in the same
direction you will only see this little part of the env sphere.

Hi,
I'm putting together a function that creates an automatic EXR passes

i'm sure some simple waves can be done with multiplying some noises

here is a example of what can be done with just simple noises multiplied

there are several pitfalls you have be aware of:
1) use linear light workflow all the way in 3d and comp
2) only use native vray materials (standard max materials dont work)
3) if some materials have selfillumination you would need this pass to

you could open them with an editor and change the Gizmo statement into
Group. then you can use the import script dialog.
the way without hacking the code of the gizmo is to put them in your
.nuke folder, load them as node (via menu or the tab key)
then you can hit the copy to group button

i'm not an expert on this but interested in this topic too.
only thing i can say is that red say: dont use our ACES profil for
production. there is a big thread about the why on the reduser forum,
thay say the ACES profil has to many erorrs and artifacts in the current

its not possible in a out of the box way. it could be scripted, but
there is no solution coming with nuke
chan files work very well with nuke, you could also try FBX

what is the graphic card in your system? and is the response in the

two things come into my mind:
a) you can build a temp script with the read node and all the things
you want to do. and the end put in a write node
in the read node file knob write: [argv 0]
and in the write node put an expression to build the name from the write
node or put in [argv 1]
then
try something like:
in the before render field of your write2:
nuke.toNode(Switch1)[which].setValue(2)
this will work if you hit the render on each write seperate, for my
quick test it didnt work if i render all nodes
