you can not render a quicktime file over a render farm.
it kinda makes sense if you think about it.
render the frame sequence first then create a movie file.

Also you can distributed render QT on a farm if its a Mac farm using

Ah
I seem to be missing a large part of this thread.
Yep we render to deadline and then have deadline to render a qt at end of
sequence render

Hi Steve
Try painting in log space and converting back to linear
using a log2lin node.
many of the problems associated with pixel values 1
can be countered with normalizing pixel values between 0-1
for the specific operations.
hope that helps

Anyone know how I can change the default frame range for new Nuke
projects? Defaults to 1-100, want to change that only on new scripts,
not existing saved scripts.
Thanks,

Set a knob_default on the nuke root first_frame and last_frame knobs.

What would be the correct way to send feature requests and other ideas for
making nuke better. Is it through the supp...@thefoundry.co.uk adress or?

Cool. Just got an answer from them although it took a while so I started
wondering. I guess they have loads of other stuff on their minds.
I had some nice ideas/improvements for the file browser that could make our

Cool, I'll try it out. What I'm missing is a search subfolders for media.
Would be great to have. Also better navigation up and down the folder
hierarchy. As it is now you get thrown up to the top when exiting a folder.
Pretty annoying if you are in a location with hundreds of folders. Also it
The feature I've requested a few times but nothing doing is a recurssive load,
so you choose a top directory and all image sequences nested in that are loaded.
eg for when the 3D has several layers in the one main directory.
The new next feature in the browser covers this better (or multiread
Yup, that sounds neat too. I like the scan sub-folders option for the
cases when you're not exactly sure what to bring in and have loads of loads
of media in various folders to look through and need to check it visually
first. Or for other cases (probably a bit more rare) where you need to bring

Hi,
if you don't mind dropping folders (from total commander, krusader etc.)
to nuke, instead of browsing, you can try this nice drop script, that does
load sequences from subdirectories recursively:

Hi Howard,
That's strange drag and drop always worked for me. (and it works semi-
recursively).. hmm.. maybe it doesn't work with our particular flavour
of Linux. Maybe we have to do some dcop / python trickery. I'll check
it tomorrow when I get in.. but please shoot me an email to remind
I guess. But that would mean bringing in everything and that is probably not
what I/you want most of the time. I'd say the more common need would be to
go through a bunch of folders looking for useful plates. So a scan subfolder
to get a list of files and then get a small preview if you click
My coding skills are not the best. I'm just a comper with too many ideas.

Hi there,
Is there way to attach tracking info (x,y of a tracker) into a single point on
a grid warp?
I have done this in the past in shake, but haven't been able to do it on nuke.
Does anyone know of a technique?

Cesar,
This is not possible as of Nuke 6.2v4. The standard work-around is to
stabilise your plate around the point you wish to track, do your warp, and
then apply the same Tracker as a match-move instead. Obviously, this isn't
the most efficient workflow, and be sure and set your trackers to use
I see, Thanks a lot Ned.
