On Sunday, August 28th, eight well seasoned BOS birders met at 7:00 am at
the Vermont and Busti staging area for the annual Buffalo Ornithological
Society August Field Trip for Shorebirds and Early Warblers. After crossing

August 26 - I observed the Great Egret Colony above the Horseshoe Falls
from Three Sisters Islands, Goat Island, Niagara Falls, New York. At 10:50

Joe called at 2:05pm 8/24 with a report of a black-bellied whistling
August 18 - Today I checked Motor Island, most of the upper Niagara
River and Tifft Nature Preserve for Great Egrets and was 100% unsuccessful. In
fact I believe in all August I have had only one (at Motor Island). This
is very unusual. In passed summers you could expect a dozen at Tifft

August 17 - There appears to be a disruption at the Niagara Falls Great
Egret Colony. Today (between 10:00 AM and 10:40 AM) I again observed the
Great Egret Colony from Three Sisters Island at Goat Island. I observed
four egret on one nest ( based on previous observations one of the
Niagara Falls Ontario Great Egret Colony
Since May 20th I have been monitoring the progress of the Great Egret
Colony in the Niagara River on the small islands above Niagara Falls.
On July 28th when I observed the Great Egret Colony above the Horseshoe
Falls from Three Sisters Island,
July 31 - At Wood Marsh and Patty 2 there were 5 Hooded Mergansers, 5
Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Caspian Terns, and 7 Great Egrets. The Great Egrets flew
east in the direction of the Great Blue Heron colony at the north edge of
Hunter's Marsh (or Wood Marsh east). Taking the long walk in, as I

Egrets and Great Blue Herons.

from the south end of Aqua Lane, .4 miles further south along River Road,
