Visited a new site today by ending the day at Mount Loretto Unique Area
which is a remarkable place. I walked more than I birded to get a feel for

Spent the day in Orange County photographing grassland birds and scouted
some old territory.
No shots of the Upland Sandpiper, since it was too far from my lens. The
bird was seen on the Big Island hill, while parked at the corner of Big
Island Road and Pulaski Hwy. The bird was almost
6/9/10 Pillsbury Mountain, Adirondack Mountains of NY, elevation 3602', temp
32, calm winds throughout the survey, few clouds, survey started at 4:33
a.m.
The first Bicknell's Thrush song was heard at 4:22 a.m. Conditions were
perfect with calm winds throughout the survey. Fifteen species
