This morning at roughly 11am I was treated to views of a bathing
Orange-crowned Warbler where the Lullwater opens up towards the Peninsula.
The bird preened for a few minutes at eye level and eventually worked it's
way high into the trees and across Wellhouse Drive onto the base of Lookout
Hill.
A snowy owl was found at Edith Read at approximately 10:30 AM. I viewed the
bird with Tom Burke from the orange tape at the overlook over the beach on the
sound side. Take the path from the parking lot through the bamboo to the

Searched for the King Eider this morning, no luck. The scoter/eider flock is
quite tremendous.
Only one Snowy Owl on Hick's Island. The darkest of the three and the one first
found earlier in the week.

Hi Everyone,
I spent the morning birding Massapequa Preserve and Lake, and around Jones
Beach - my main goal was to find some cool ducks. At Massapequa Lake saw
lots of Mallards and Hooded Mergansers. (around 9am) I stopped at the dock
at the end of Alhambra Road, saw lots of Brant in the bay
Yesterday, a Snowy Owl (the 1st of 2, as of today) was seen by a local
birder, who made some phone calls to try to get other folks on the bird,
but thought it best for the owl, to not post it on the listserve. I was
able to get down to see it, and respected the finder's wishes and also
didn't
Was not able to re-locate the King Eider reported @ Camp Hero Overlook
despite two hours of scoping huge Eider/Scoter flock, there are hundreds of
Common Eiders & thousands of Scoters, all three species, so may have missed
King.
Good luck if you go.
