[nysbirds-l] common raven - east patchogue

While on my morning run, just west of the Swan River (and south of Montauk Highway) I observed several crows and an Osprey above some trees - I then heard the unmistakeable call of a Common Raven. The Osprey seemed to disappear while the crows mobbed the crown of a tree. I never saw the raven -

Yesterday my wife and I visited the Eagle nest and observed the "adult" on the nest with the sub-adult in a nearby tree. After awhile it took off and went hunting and was harassed periodically by other osprey that have established territory. We also observed a pair of osprey breeding and saw

My wife and I looked (without much effort) along dune road for the Snowy Owl and did not find it. EPCAL (calverton grasslands) had a minimum of 30 Kestrel on the western runway - with probably an equal amount on the easter (potentially a bit less due to the operation of the skydive outfit today).
