The bunting is actually in Flanders, but the GPS makes you put Riverhead.

The adult male Lazuli Bunting being seen at 27 Royal Ave in Riverhead, NY, was
still there as of about 1230pm. It appeared for about three minutes before
being scared off by the cars and loud truck going by and flying around to the
back of the home. It evidentily comes about every hour or so
At croton point park in croton the two basically adult red-headed woodpeckers
are still there. Also had two broad-winged hawks fly over and several savanna
sparrows and five yellow-rumped and one palm warblers along with two blue-gray
gnatcatchers.

Today while driving along the New Croton Reservoir I saw a huge flock of
Ring-necked Ducks. The location was in the cove south of the intersection of
Croton Ave. and Baptist Church Rd. There must have been well over 5 or 600,
probably many more. I've never seen such a huge flock. Very

grounds. The first swallows of the year were two tree swallows. No sign of

Saw interesting Black Vulture behavior just now. Four were sitting on the
chimneys of a house across from mine warming up in this cold. I had never seen
animals of any kind doing this. Just shows how smart they are. They were only
on ones with smoke coming out. Cool stuff.

Forgot to mention yesterday that after finding the Townsend's Warbler and
seeing the MacGillivray's Warbler a little later we headed over to look for the
Ash-throated Flycatcher that has been in Mt. Vernon for awhile. Even though a
few people had looked that day and had nothing we took a look
After looking at my poor photos of the Townsend's Warbler I posted earlier on
here, it looks like it may be a hybrid. I just assumed it was a
Townsend's/Hermit hybrid, but someone on iNaturalist suggested it looked more
like a Black-throated Green Warbler/Townsend's hybrid since it had a white

small field is across from number 725. It flew into the conifer where the
Townsend was last seen.

female MacGillivray's Warbler that was found behind 720 W. 231st St. in the

around 230pm. Parking is best on 231st. St. and walking up the drive

Spent about four hours at Croton Pt. Park today. The two Red-headed
Woodpeckers are still in the upper picnic area where the airplane field is.
They gave lots of great photo ops. Just so cool watching them. Also had a
Field Sparrow and two American Tree Sparrows up there to with the juncos.
I have not seen it posted here, but the Hammond's Flycatcher first seen at
Rockland Lake S.P. just north of Nyack a few days ago was still at the parking
lot 6 area as of yesterday morning. I was told by a friend it had been seen
there again.

Westchester Co. for the atlas, I have a pair with fairly large young nesting at

Just saw that the Neotropic Cormorant that was in Newburgh last spring and
summer is back at the same locaition between the Newburgh Ferry Terminal and
the Global Oil terminal south on River Rd. Seems to be the third in the NYC

Anyone know where you enter at the dump for the Blue Grosbeaks that are
supposably there just east of the thruway in Rockland County? I was told
there's a trail next to a dump and some power lines. Not sure since they

While out shopping we stopped by for a short visit to the Monk Parakeet colony
at Trinity School on Church St. in New Rochelle. There are nests in all the
light fictures but only had birds in three of them with a total of about 4
visible. Also had an American Kestrel and an Osprey on top of

Terminal Park but not sure where to park. I see on google there is a small

I was driving down Central Ave. in White Plains about an hour ago passing Hmart
when I was quite surprised to see a juvenile Bald Eagle flying in circles about

Just wanted to update that the Black Vultures in the abandoned home on Seely
Place in Scarsdale do indeed have at least one chick. I was informed by the

Found and interesting nesting situation today. Saw a ravens nest in the center
of a cell tower platform and a osprey nest on the side top of the tower. Never
seen both nesting with each other:-) Cool. It was in Scarsdale off Central
Ave.
