[nysbirds-l] Central Park - a late report
I couldn't get to a computer to report 5 Ring-necked Ducks (M) @ Reservoir 1/22/17 Sun. about 1:30pm. The weather and not being well kept me from returning. I've been waiting for a Ring-neck duck all season. 1/20/17 Fri., an odd duck appeared swimming with a flock of Ruddies. It's head was entirely white and the back and wings were splotched with dull red, the breast a solid dull reddish color.Another Birder, Carl, was observing this anomyly from another side of NW corner. I looked for the birds later but never saw it again. Carl and I thought it was a leucistic Ruddy Duck. -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birding.aba.org/maillist/NY01 Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

Below it is white on belly, marked with vertical streaks on flank and very white to rear; dark above, very small alongside the Canada flock. They were in NE section and close enough in I could see the small goose's eye which was dark and blended with the small head and small bill.I hoped the internet would display some hybrids, but cdn't find a likeness. 11/14/14, Friday Pat Pollock Pied-billed Grebe close to west pumphouse north end of Reservoir 1 American Coot on west/south sides no other surprises; mostly No. Shovelers, Ruddies, Can. Geese, Mallards, and usual gulls as far as I could tell. Unfortunately, little work is being done on the now torn up north stretch of the Reservoir - no workers around today, and the 2 I I saw yesterday were having an early lunch - never saw anyone working there after they dug up the track and erected fences so we can't bird along that stretch. [nysbirds-l] Central Park Bird Report - 3 (m) Ringed-neck Ducks
11/12/14 Wednesday Pat Pollock 3 Ringed-neck (M) Ducks in NE section of Reservoir seen by me @ 11:20 am. In addition 2 American Coots 16 Buffleheads 11 Gadwalls many No. Shovelers and Ruddy Ducks Haven't seen Hooded Mergansers for a few days John Beauchamp said he saw 6 Monday, 11/10 on eastside - I didn't find any later in the day 11/10 Mon.: Palm W., Golden-crowned Kinglets 4, Pinetum 91st/West Drive 2 beautiful (M) Brown-headed Cowbirds Yesterday afternoon went to Inwood - didn't find Dickcissel - others the same. If you go I suggest bringing seed and distributing in cement areas cement There are well over a hundred sparrows feeding along there, and being disturbed, flying off, up into the trees. As for Woodcock, went there, too, w/o success - a loud smelly stifling atmosphere. Cd't locate the bird. -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
