Popped in quickly to see if we could re-find the hempstead lake painted bunting
around 4pm today and we were able to see and photograph it. Not far past where
the parking lot ends, whereas we usually have seen it a bit further along the

female/imm Painted Bunting in Camp Hero a short time ago. It was in the
weedy edges of a dump area which is closed to the public, but one can look

Just passing on the news that there is a female-type painted bunting being
seen at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, Nassau Co.
(Long Island). Apparently it was found yesterday and is still being seen
today, visiting their feeders.

For anyone that may not scour eBird, Brooklyn's third PABU this morning was
found at 10:45 a.m. this morning at Plumb Beach in Brooklyn in the dune scrub
just in front of the parking lot.Assuming a female given its all chartreuse

It was actively feeding on the seed heads of the ‘bluestem grass’ in loose

The Painted Bunting continues in and around the green roof at the Lefrak
Center in Prospect Park. This is the new complex housing the skating
rinks. The best entrance is either at Lincoln Road or at the corner of
Parkside and Ocean Avenues, both stops on the Q train if you're using mass
transit.
Bird continues on top of Lefrak Center. It seems to be feeding with a large
flock of birders - 30+ at one time. Just look for the crowd.

A report was made on the Long Island wildlife Facebook page showing a painted
bunting at a feeder. Apparently the person who made the report lives in
