That's interesting. That's where I had my first Virginia Rail back in the
1980's. I guess they are there regularly. Cool.

I spent the day yesterday seawatching from Breezy point in Queens. Since the
West wind was very strong, I ended up lying down on top of a dune in the
morning to stay steady and at lower tide during the afternoon I used the dike
as a partial shelter.
Highlights were:
1 Great Shearwater, flying
Two Cackling Geese are still present in Prospect Park on the lake. They are
located in a small cove just on the south side of the three sisters island.
That is across the road from a landmark called the peristyle which is near the
parade grounds.

I had my first of season Fox Sparrows today in my friends yard at 167 Old Army
Rd. with a mixed flock of juncos and other birds. There were at least two of
them. Such gorgeous birds.

I'm sad to report the passing of Cal Vornberger, well known bird photographer,
on November 2, 2017 from complications following triple bypass heart surgery.
Cal was a photographer who discovered birds relatively late in his life, but
when he did, went all in. Cal produced two wonderful books o
