If you have BSF4ooRexx then there is probably no need for such a functionality,
you can probably use
"|java.util.zip.CRC32" for that purpose. It should be fairly straightforward to
transcribe e.g. the
code in

 to
ooRexx.|

Yes, in fact ooRexx 5.0 is by comparison to 4.2 stable in the area of JavaFX
GUIs where
multithreading plays an important role. Some of the ooRexx JavaFX samples in
BSF4ooRexx therefore
check for the ooRexx version and if earlier than 5.0 will intentionally not run
(as they are known
to crash on 4.1 and 4.2), but give the user the information to use ooRexx 5.0
or later instead.

Why is this still tagged "next release" since a year ago...

"Add GetCRC32 Rexx DLL call to ooRexx"
https://sourceforge.net/p/oorexx/feature-requests/687/

I was attempting to contribute source code for one additional RexxUtil API so
that I may discontinue manually installing an additional library on all of my
deployments.

Could I get some assistance quickly getting this API added?

Rony, are all BSF4ooRexx functionalities working properly with the current
state of ooRexx v5? No longer areas of regression compared to the functionality
available to BSF4ooRexx on ooRexx 4.2?

Otherwise I think I am good. ooRexx v5 has built so far on a couple of recent
LTS editions of Ubuntu! :-)

I am thankful,

No showstoppers in my code base or in the code bases of my clients... I
concur with a freeze and release.

Hi ooRexx developers,

As we have the symposium next week the question pops up (like it did last
year), if ooRexx 5.0 is ready to be released. In other words, are there real
showstoppers in the recent revisions?

I am sure we are all aware that it is quite some time since we released an
official version. Wikipedia puts it at 4 years ago.

There are some things I can think of:
- ooDialog
- the portable ‘usb’ version
- installer for macos
- recent performance increases

but personally I think it is fine if these land in 5.1; I do not have an
opinion at all on ooDialog.

Would it be a bad idea to freeze a revision one of these days, have a close
look at it,and try to bring it to GA.

Who thinks we still have showstoppers in ooRexx 5.0 ?

Best regards,

René.
