Sorry this is s10 but I thought someone here may have some idea about this
I just noticed (thanks to star complaining about missing links) that
numerous ( 2000) files on the s10u4 SPARC DVD seem anomalous.

By the way, these devices will be designed and built in the People's
Republic of China. Sooner than you and I can possibly imagine. So get
rolling, because time is short.
Please, anywhere but China. I will take Taiwan but not China. Man,
they do not understand quality control. My dad visits

So that M$ and Sun are working together, I think Solaris and the OpenSolaris
community at large only stand to profit from this. I hope something *really*
comes out of this, and not stay at another publicity stunt.

Why the dark side parabole?
Why, quite a few people view Microsoft as the dark side.
It would

Sorry. You're absolutely right. Usually I don't let myself get sucked

Do you seriously believe that there will be any
improvements in
interoperability between Windows and UNIX due to
this?
I believe that on the whole, it should help, yes.
Example: M$ and Sun have a cross-patent and licensing deal for ten years, four
of which have now passed by.
Application:
Likewise, I haven't seen the Sun One Directory server being able to fully and
completely replace Microsoft Active Directory because it is fully
interoperable with AD, meaning that it can supplant it.
At the end of the day this is better for Sun than Microsoft.

Still not yet for x86, which is disappointing.
However, the formulation in the drop-down menu looks a bit promising:
No longer just Solaris, but Choose Solaris version --- Solaris SPARC ...
So maybe a x86 version is in the works or at least planned (pure speculation)

This was an interesting fork in the conversation that just stopped
dead. Yes it wasn't OpenSolaris related, but to some it was an
interesting diversion.
I have proposed in the past an offtopic or lounge mailing list to give
these types of conversation a place to play out, so they don't

I don't think you should be expecting direct code
contribution into
OpenSolaris from either IBM or Microsoft.
I don't. But following the anouncement, which was made *four* years ago, I do
expect Microsoft products to start appearing for Solaris.
Which, apart from not being likely, hasn't

Who needs NTFS when we can see ZFS on Windows ?
We're not likely to see ZFS on Windows, primarily because data needs to be
migrated *away* from Windows to Solaris, not the other way around.
Also, investing the scarce resources to port ZFS to Windows isn't economically
feasible for the
