Hello Jon, Yes, I did get VNC to work. No, I did not get a terminal service like solution to work. The trick with getting VNC to work was to turn off all visual effects, then I could simply ssh in and issue vncserver and vnc to which ever port number was handed out. Each time you do a vncser

So I discovered an issue with the approach I am using. It only allows me to VNC in after I have already logged in from the console. So if the server goes down, like a power outage, and then comes up it's not possible to vnc in until I have logged in with a user and ok'd the connection. In fac

Thank you cbinford, that did the trick. I disabled all of the graphics cutesy stuff under system > preferences > appearance > visual effects. I then enabled vnc from system > preferences > desktop sharing, by checking the first two boxes, unchecking the third, and checking the next two, as wel

I found on my system that I had to change the "Visual Effects" to None before vnc would send any updates. Before I changed that the screen painted fine on the first connect, but it was static after that. Opening a window or moving the mouse didn't show. The "Visual Effects" tab is under . cb

Try killing the compiz process owned by the vnc server. If it doesn't like compiz, you can run another window manager like twm. -- Alan On 04/ 7/10 10:15 AM, James wrote: Hello Alan, Thank you for the reply. I did try running vncserver from the command line, and that would certainly have be

Hello Alan, Thank you for the reply. I did try running vncserver from the command line, and that would certainly have been easy if it worked, but unfortunately it didn't really. I tried opening a connection from my Mac with both Chicken VNC and apple's built in VNC client and both prompted fo
