[opnfv-tech-discuss] [availability] Release doc for HA project

2017-01-19 Thread Fu Qiao
Hi, all. I add a new item of "Release documents" in our project wiki page, so
that it will be easy for everyone to find these. Please see the following link.
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/availability/High+Availability+For+OPNFV

@Wanghui. According to our discussion during the call, we suggest to first go
through the release docs of the HA project, and see if you can get more clue of
the requirement for data collection. We can have a further discussion based on
these docs. Please refer to these release docs above and see if they can help.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] Compass4nfv PTL nomination

2017-01-19 Thread Weidong.Shao
Hi everyone,

I would like to use this email to express my appreciation to the community and
inform everyone that I will step down as PTL for the Compass4nfv project. It's
been a privilege serving as PTL for Compass4nfv, one of the installer tools for
OPNFV. I have learned a great deal from the community members by participating
each and every OPNFV Summit as well as many OPNFV community meetings. Thanks
for this amazing journey.

I would also like to nominate Justin Chi from Huawei as the next PTL for
Compass4nfv. Justin has been the technical leader of the Huawei Compass4nfv
open source team in Shanghai, China which consists of many original members of
Compass4nfv. He has demonstrated excellent leadership skills as well as strong
technical skills. Under Justin's leadership, Compass4nfv has been extremely
active and gained great recognition.

I will be in a fully supportive role to Justin and remain as a Committer to the
Compass4nfv project in the near future.

We also welcome contributions to Compass4nfv.
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/compass4nfv/Compass4nfv.

Compass4nfv project was originally derived from compass project. Official
upstream Compass project had 3 repos, all hosted under openstack.
They are:
https://github.com/openstack/compass-core
https://github.com/openstack/compass-web
https://github.com/openstack/compass-adapters

Also we have recently finished the development of containerized Compass
solution. If you are interested in contributing/knowing more on this. Contact
me weidong.s...@huawei.com or xicheng.cha...@huawei.com

Thanks,
Weidong

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [Fuel] Danube Status - ready to test in labs?

2017-01-19 Thread SULLIVAN, BRYAN L
Resending, as I have not yet see a clarification of the fields in the
dea-pod-override.yaml and dha.yaml files. I need this in order to setup our
PODs to test under Fuel for the Copper, Models, and VES project.

Thanks,

Hi Michael,

We figured out that much after actually looking at the README file, but the
details of the dea-pod-override.yaml and dha.yaml files are unclear, i.e. how
they should be setup for a specific POD, what are the options and values,
what’s mandatory/optional, etc. In the repo, it looks like they refer to
virtual envs, but after looking at the “secret” lab config versions it’s not
much clearer. There are dozens of fields, subnet specs, etc and it’s unclear
what they all related to. Where is the spec for all that?

Thanks,
Bryan Sullivan | AT

Thanks for the help here and on IRC – much appreciated.
One other question as asked on IRC: The deploy.sh script requires a "-b
base-uri" parameter which is the "stack-configuration" location. But there is
no spec of what needs to be at that location/resource (I’m assuming this is an
input, not output) - at least I can't find it. Any guidance?

Hi Bryan,

"-b base-uri" parameter usually pointed to the config which resides in the
repo, e.g.:
# git clone https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/fuel /tmp/opnfv-fuel

In this case -b should be set to file:///tmp/opnfv-fuel/deploy/config
-s option is for a scenario name which is available in the repo as well
(.../opnfv-fuel/deploy/scenario).

Hello, Bryan.

I unfortunately was only able to attend a portion of this meeting. Was there a
recording of what GigaSpaces presented, or is the Google Doc the only thing
that can be reviewed at this time?

· Christopher Price, Ericsson
· Alok Gupta, AT
· Krzysztof Frujacz, Gigaspaces
· Larry Lamers, VMWare
· Pasi Vaananen, Stratus
· Trinath Somanchi, NXP
Minutes:
· Cloudify/Aria discussion
· Arthur provided an overview of the Aria project (Apache Foundation)
·
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PemGjFnEh-5QJUy_D1Mz4rHEL7kxdGD9XMc4RQsr6Zo/edit?usp=sharing
· Plan to support all Cloudify plugins
· Execution plugin is being worked on first (SSH and execution of
scripts as "implementation" hooks)
· How does it manage stateful as well as static blueprint data
· Both need to be auditable (give me the current state in some easily
usable/comparable form, e.g. JSON)
· Stateful data needs to be reliably stored - is this a database sync
issue only?
· How does it support update of the deployed instances, e.g. to add a
new node in the graph or update a node
· Plans beyond CLI and Python libraries
· The vision discussed at the ODL Summit was for a RESTful API thru
which we can onboard blueprints, deploy, and interact with the deployed
instances as objects (e.g. JSON-based), for a completely modeled/object-based
abstraction layer
· Basic VDU properties supported?
· Intend to support TOSCA profile CSD03 (all nodes): current YAML
implementation of the schema
·
https://github.com/apache/incubator-ariatosca/tree/8ee1470e314cfd3cac5cc4e17c80ea6ab67bad8a/extensions/aria_extension_tosca/profiles/tosca-simple-nfv-1.0
· Discussions with Tacker on reuse?
· Some time ago, need to refresh the discussion
· Bryan's goal for Danube is to create an experimental test using Aria
as a VNFM for the basic hello-world level test ala
vHello_Tacker.sh and
the related blueprint
tosca-vnfd-hello-world-tacker
· As soon as there is a stable Aria version that can be used to develop
such a starter test, we will work on it.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] Scenario Consolidation

2017-01-19 Thread Ulrich Kleber
Hello,

we discussed scenario consolidation further in tech discuss meetings last week
and today in between on techdiscuss forum.

I created a proposal for generic and specific scenarios, their characteristics
and life cycle.
See https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/INF/Scenario+Consolidation .
The embedded powerpoint with the proposal has reached a good level of support
already.
Please help to refine this further by contributing comments in the discussion
forum at https://techdiscuss.opnfv.org/c/ci-cd/scenarios
and help to fill the table in the wiki with additional information about our
Danube scenarios.

Cheers,
