We have just installed a firewall and are now getting lots of ORA-28575:
unable to open RPC connection to external procedure agent errors, although
the listener appears to be running.

But due to some unknown 'feature' one has to explicitly set the
service_names and instance_name in the init .ora file as a workaround to be
able to use auto-register feature in 8.1.7. Again, only if using the default
listener name

We have seen this problem when trying to use external procedures to run
remote unix commands.
The solution was to have a seperate external procedure listener which you
can start seperately from the standard listener(you may already be ding
giving me an error message but I was requesting
url's with my C program and getting error connects back. Thought I was
overloading the listener but that was not the case.

by pointing to a port that is not used by a listener.

Check the size of your log files, as they are likely
responsible for consuming a lot of space.
Also check in the cdump directory for core files.

do need to edit the file /etc/system, and these changes require
a reboot to become effective.
I know this to be true through 2.7, not sure about 8.

Subject: Odd core dump - possibly listener related
Hello all,
My mini-me (aka Junior DBA) noticed a core dump this morning. Good,
attention to detail. However, there's no unusual errors in the alert log
for either databases on this host
in the listener log
at all. The core dump says something about pseudo cursor and references a
port that isn't dedicated to the listener.
Here's my take on it: The database is fine. The listener is fine. The
app is fine. With nothing in the logs I have no idea where to look. I
don't even know how

Your problem is actually highlighted on the error message "Solaris Error: 12: Not enough space"
It is more of an Operating system resource issue. I gather that you are running about 8 instances on this machine ,right?
Shutdown couple of unused or low priority instances and see whether you

- check max number of processes vs. max number of processes per user (John Kanagaraj)
- swap space
