That is true. In Oracle 8, there is option to enable the constraint
values in a PK candidate column)
1) create a non-unique index on the pk candidate colunm
2) create the pk using enable novalidate clause
this way the existing data will NOT checked for uniqueness, the constraint
will be enforced for the upcoming data only...

to make them read by the c program and generate an output file.

i can drop this table ??? (it would require enabling the
table locks)
seems like a bug to me... i'm on rs/6000 with 8.1.5.0.0

any known restrictions in doing an alter table obj$ storage(buffer_pool
keep) ?
or, would it be better to keep the entire C_OBJ# cluster in KEEP pool ?

i cannot spare a separate drive for the redologs,
can i place the online logs with the same drive as
the solaris + oracle engine ?
(m,y solaris and oralce are also on the same drive)
