Comfrey is a fantastic ingredient for compost. So don't dig it up! Put
the leaves (not the roots) on the pile. This may not help your
epiphytic orchids, but it'll sure the give your garden a boost. Maybe
your terrestrial orchids too (cymbidiums?), though I think someone
more knowledgeable in

Over the years I've experimented a bit with using these (llama, horse, cow,
sheep, etc.) as either teas, amendments, or as the medium itself (on the
latter, see the writings of Nic van Bosch from Tasmania). Quite a bit was
written about using manure teas for orchid nutrition in the set
One simple thing to keep in mind is to not choose too large a system!
RO is not a very good small batch system, it is at its happiest when it
runs on longer duty-cycles. Increasing your storage capacity so that
the system runs longer and fewer cycles will decrease your maintenance
costs while
