[Origami] Origami is a time of distancing

2020-03-23 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hi Folders!

Lonely? In a time when physical contact is bad, emotional and social passion is
EXTREMELY important.

I have folded hundreds and hundreds of miniature origami models to turn into
earrings in the past two weeks. I think we should have an origami pandemic!

I posted to Instagram a short video of my origami galore. Please share yours!
And I hope you enjoy the below link to my Instagram post!

[Origami] Looking for short, direct origami videos

2022-03-29 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hi Paperfolders!,

I am looking for short, direct and interesting origami videos.

For example, Faye shared this one with the o-list about folding a material
in half *x* amount of times: https://youtu.be/AfPDvhKvaa0.

I would love something that says everything about origami concisely, and in
a cool way. I would also love a 5 minute or less video on bases ~ on
people ~ on origami uses (medicine, outer space, art, functions, therapy,
education, etc.) ~ on math ~ on the crane... and anything else interesting
to the novice or professional.

Right now, this is for my after school teaching job to 1st and 2nd
graders. With the proper permissions, I am happy to put anything that
spreads the joy and amazement of origami, in a gallery at the online
Origami Museum, https://OrigamiMuseum.org.

You may email me at l...@origamiplace.com with your thoughts.

Re: [Origami] recent surveys of origami artworks

Re: recent surveys of origami artworks (Matthew Gardiner),

Apologies: server issues caused my delayed response

Per Matthew Gardiner inquiry on 11/14/16 9:12 PM:

>just doing some research, in the last 10-15 years or so we have seen a
few, what the art world would call, surveys of origami art. These would
include exhibitions of a group of artists, curated (works are selected by
an individual or group), generally international, and is likely a touring
exhibition, rather than a one off exhibit at a say a convention.

I'm aware of a couple, but perhaps there has been some others that I'm not
aware of:

Masters of Origami - Hangar 7 - Salzburg, Austria (2005)

Above the Fold - Arts & Artists

Folding Paper: The infinite Possibilities of Origami - Arts & Artists

Surface to Structure - Cooper Union -New York

Does anyone know of any other major exhibitions out there?

[Origami] Permission question

2017-09-04 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hey Folders!

I am excited to be starting an after school job entertaining kindergarten
through 3rd graders. I get to run an activity daily with the kids. My
question is, can I teach origami and whose models can I teach? I am not
getting paid to teach the kids origami, I am just making sure they are safe
and have a good afternoon. I do want to inspire a love of origami in the
kids. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

[Origami] Online Origami Museum

2017-10-29 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hi Folders!

I am writing to invite you to be an exhibitor in an online origami museum.

The museum will start online, but if interest pursues, it will become an
actual museum.

There will be a general page that has origamist names, countries,
biographies and an image that represents the artist. Each artist can have
their own page with their name, general statement, pictures of origami that
they BOTH designer and folded, artist statements about models, web presence
and notes if you wish.

There is an online questioner to participate at:
*

Here is the link to the page to invite you to be an exhibitor in the
museum: www.rockyartsunfolded.com/Services/Exhibitions

Here is the page that the finished survey leads to were you can submit
pictures as well as questions: www.rockyartsunfolded.com/Services/Museum

The online presence in the gallery, will help in choosing origami
exhibitions. Storage of donated artworks will be divided by person, each
having their own container/box. Participation is completely voluntary, and
there are no charges involved.

Thank you! I would be happy to answer any question.

[Origami] Call for a maker for 2 Origami 3D Honey Badgers

2018-04-14 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hi Folders!

I have an Etsy commission request from someone who inquired if I can make
two origami honey badgers. Since I do not know the model I am asking if I
you or someone else here can make one with elegance. I am asked if you are
up for the challenge. It is a paid project where I am asking for a small
referral fee. Sean, the commissioner, asked for a female and a male badger,
3D, where I would get $5 or 10%, whichever is greater, so he thinks it will
be about $50. It would just be used for personal reasons. I am happy to
arrange this; I just need to clarify the numbers. Basically, can you do
this, what would you charge and how much would shopping be?

Here is the message from Sean who inquired about a commission:
Hi! I stopped by your booth at the Boston convention center (I think
that is the name of it) this past year. I was wondering if you could make
two origami honey badgers. Adult size (vs. adult and baby); they will
supposed to represent one male and one female, though if they look
identical that's fine too. I have attached a couple origami honey badgers
pictures that I found online. Please let me know what you think. There
would be no rush on this. Thanks! Sean Gregory
Let me know privately at lbcorf...@comcast.net.

I can send the picture he sent me, because not it is not possible in this
email format. So email me and I will email them to me along with clearing
up any details.

Thanks!

[Origami] Community Origami Art Grant Invite

2018-06-16 Thread Lisa Corfman
Hi Folders!

I would like to invite you to participate in a community project, titled
Goldfish Art, something free to all.

Goldfish Art has 3 parts that I am asking for participation in:

·Copper Butterfly Making,

·Painting of six storytelling Murals, and

·Song audio renditions for YouTube.

*This program is supported in part by a grant from the Maynard Cultural
Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a
state agency."*

   [image:
http://www.massculturalcouncil.org/contracts/orange_images/MCC_Logo_RGB_NoTag_resized.jpg]

Make copper butterflies for the display:

Copper Butterfly Lesson at the OrigamiUSA Annual Convention at St. Johns in
Queens, NY:

·Monday, June 25, 2018, 45 minutes; please register via OrigamiUSA.

Origami Butterfly Lesson with Song Making/Recording Time at the Hearing
Room in Lowell, MA:

·Saturday, June 30, 2018, 1pm-4pm; RSVP at
www.facebook.com/events/619101678450802/.

Painting Public Murals:

These murals use six existing red panels, each about 3 feet wide by 6 feet
tall. They will each illustrate a verse of the Goldfish Song’s six verses.
Each panel will have one verse, an illustration and one of three links: the
Facebook page, the YouTube channel and the website. I am asking for novel
and/or experienced muralists. Please consider contributing if it is
convenient.

·By July 1, 2018, I would like to choose the final paper sketches.

·By August 9, 2018, I would like to complete the mural. It would be
nice to make this a group project. It is outside, so nice days are required
and since we will be using house paint, so please wear clothes that can get
dirty.

·I will hang the copper butterflies on that mural in early August.

Song Contributions:

·Make audio versions of the Goldfish Song and email the version to
me. I will add some visuals and you can submit pictures to be part of the
YouTube visuals. If you choose, the recording App, Spire, allows 8
overlapping tracks.

·Contribute translations (poetic, song, etc) and I will put them on
the website. We may record some translations with permission. Or you can
add other written text for the website.

This is the grant project Open Call link with the song:
http://www.rockyartsunfolded.com/Services/GoldfishOpenCalls.html

Final key component – RECEPTION:

The project will be complete and we will have a grand reception: August 26,
2018 from 2-4pm!

The address is 7 Mill & Main, Maynard, MA, across the street from the
Maynard Post Office.

Everything can be found at https://www.facebook.com/GoldfishArtProject/

Let me know, please, if you want to take part in or help lead one or a few
of these happenings. Please RSVP!

I can be reached at 617-308-2573 or lbcorf...@comcast.net. Thanks for your
warm enthusiasm!

Re: [Origami] Origami Digest, Vol 159, Issue 10

2019-07-15 Thread Lisa Corfman
I have an origami museum YouTube channel. Some music may be good in a
classroom setting if there is one in your museum. Go to www.YouTube.com and
look for Lisa Corfman. I would be happy to post other people’s origami Museum
there, as well.

I think the museum music should me on the quiet side. Perhaps maybe no lyrics
for most of the time with maybe 30 seconds being more uplifting every 15
minutes. Does the community support that thought?

You can reach me at l...@origamimuseum.org

Folding Warmly,
Lisa
