SV: interbase database schema
Yes, SABDB would be another alterantive. Anyone tried it togheter with Orion? Works under both Windows and Linux and is open source. Doesn't do everything a DB2 or Oracle does (subselects instantly come to mind), but it does work well. Re: SV: interbase database schema
Should have been more clear - we are using it with Orion 1.4.5 on W2K - the more I test and stress it - the more I like it. I even like the tools that come with it. As it is being moved to open source, it comes to us a little differently than other open source apps. It is a mature database already and I believe it can only get better as an open source app. I should say, rather, that it has the potential to get better, time will tell of course. How is it that PostgreSQL seems more mature than SapDB? Kind of curious... Cheers Ray --- Markus Harnvi [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yes, SABDB would be another alterantive. PostgreSQL seems to be more mature than SABDB, but SAPDB has a big company supporting it. what makes you think that way? SAPDB has a background in a commercial product that has been out for many years (decades?) I mean as a repacked OSS product. That's a new situation. Look att Netscape - Mozilla. It doesn't seem that easy to release a former commercial product as OSS. The SAP people take there time too: http://www.sap.com/solutions/technology/sapdb/sap_db_roadmap.htm Are there many installations of SAPDB as a standalone product? Isn't it a bit different from using it as an integrated database engine in the SAP environment? Anyway, it's really nice with several well supported free database engines around. /Markus
