Okay Michaelin my worldview, the beings don't need to be people. We
have had some amazing OST meetings with angelic and intergalactic beings.
Buddha likes ice cream...and so wouldn't participate unless some was
promised...and so he has his own perspective of the minimal elements.

all true, birgitt. i was talking about the bare minimum in a general
sense. i've never seen a story without some people, so people would seem
to be first requirement to have a meeting (or at least person). and if you
stop there, just people, no story, and you get yourself an unconference.

The story of OS and the Techies is a long one. As it happened, the folks who
were present for the first OS, and subsequently constituted major parts of the
early community were all Techies of a sort. Some of them actually designed
systems and wrote code and others were more “eager participants”
