Re: [OSList] A proposal for many worlwide OST events on "Climate Change and the Future of Earth"

2019-10-24 Thread R Chaffe via OSList
We have a common topic for discussion that is based on a natural system. 30
years ago Polio was regarded as disease that we had to accept. Today the
number of wild polio diagnosis is down to a handful, the last advice I had is
10. It took a lot of talking and it has happened.

Climate has been changing since the dawn of being. The recent (last 300 years)
changes have been accelerated by human activity.

Yes humankind will change, adapt and will seek more sustainable ways of living.

Now I’d the best time to discuss how we may adapt, the things that we can
change and the systems that support sustainable living.

Robert Menzies a long searing prime minister of Australia, leader of the
conservative Liberal Party is reported as saying something like “enterprise
without regulation is chaos”. The model of “winner take all and be dammed to
the hindmost” as represented by many Western countries is not sustainable.
Neither is the rule by force in many dictatorships where the very few have
riches beyond understanding and the many are so poor they barely have enough to
survive.

We know chaos is the breading ground of ideas for change, conversation is the
tool to build the process and Open Space technology is and ideal process to
get the best out of every conversation for all who participate.

Let us talk on, let us share our skills and be an active part of the
conversations about change and our sustainability. The next generations are
seeking ways and means let us do what we can. In our own space. When the time
is right the people will come!

Regards
Rob

Re: [OSList] A proposal for many worlwide OST events on "Climate Change and the Future of Earth"

2019-10-24 Thread Eleder_BuM via OSList
Harrison. really, it seems that, as you say, more than before, "the
environmental disaster is in the center of global conversation".

Environmental disaster is closely linked to a wide variety of deep
topics, usually
unspoken/censured on the mass media, in my honest opinion, such as:

   - militar occupation and anihilation of far away lands and communities,
just to supply the fewer with unnecessary, illing stuff, due to a
   consumerist/capitalist living model;
   - huge efforts, resources and energy for the violence and armament
   industries
   - despise of other races/communities,
   - pschicological ill people in charge of ill organizations that rule and
   use violence over the majority.

to name a few of them

Let's see how it all develops, and how we can help quality conversation and
conscious action.

I tend to be an optimist, too, and love your idea: "and even if everything
reported in the article is gospel truth, I think it may well have backfired".

Adding to the preparation of OS on this topic, I'd put a question on the
panel: "From Global warming to global disarmament, are we ready? How do we
get there?" and I think it would help having this question spread and
growing.

I underline your last words, Harrison, brilliant: "It may well be too
little, too late, but nobody ever said the human experiment had to go on
forever."

Continue breathing and nurturing so richly our conversations, dear old man,
big hug, in a nice autunm afernoon in Mundaka,

Eleder

Dear friends,

I reckon many remember that Harrison and many friends have been doing for years
a set of OST events under the theme "Open Space for Peace and High Performance".

You also know that the current UN Secretary-General, the Portuguese António
Guterres (who happens to have been my companion in high school and at the
University), recently convened a UN climate summit.

You, my friends, do not ignore too the dramatic situation of the climate and
the Earth, nor that our children and grand children may not have a planet to
live in, as, at least for the moment, there is no other planet with the
necessary conditions for life...

Today, in a private mail exchange, it occurred to me to challenge you, based on
what HO once did: to do, all over the world where there are facilitators,
public OST sessions on climate change and what needs to be done to alleviate
the problems.

Each of us will know better, in every concrete situation, who to invite and
what concrete goals to make explicit (or not).

What do you think of my suggestion?

Stay safe

2019-10-23 Thread Eleder_BuM via OSList
Hi Harrison, how arre you doing?

As you were mentioning* "that marvelous lady from Sweden"* referring, I
suppose Greta Thunberg,
may I invite you to read this long and well documented writing that
explains
a big manufacturing around her

and all this story, intended to get private profit
along with damaging still more the planet and most of humanity.

I sent it some weeks ago to the list responding to this thread,
nobody said nothing about it, and I was daring it didn´t even get you all.

Any view on it?

Big hug from Bilbao, and enjoy Wosonos, I´ll have all of you in my mind,

Eleder

2019-10-15 Thread Rosa Zubizarreta via OSList
We just hosted our Open Space "Deep Adaptation Dialogue
" this Sunday.
Will share harvest here soon.

It was tiny (about 20 people or so) yet potent. I tend to prefer longer
Open Spaces, yet was totally happy with how
people "got it" about the power of OS in a brief 3-hour gathering.

with all best wishes,

Dear friends,

You also know that the current UN Secretary-General, the Portuguese
António Guterres (who happens to have been my companion in high school
and at the University), recently convened a UN climate summit.

You, my friends, do not ignore too the dramatic situation of the
climate and the Earth, nor that our children and grand children may
not have a planet to live in, as, at least for the moment, there is no
other planet with the necessary conditions for life...

Today, in a private mail exchange, it occurred to me to challenge you,
based on what HO once did: to do, all over the world where there are
facilitators, public OST sessions on climate change and what needs to
be done to alleviate the problems.

Each of us will know better, in every concrete situation, who to
invite and what concrete goals to make explicit (or not).

What do you think of my suggestion?

Stay safe

Artur

Hi all, sorry to be coming in late on this thread... am definitely
interested.

A related item... maybe this has already been mentioned on this list... Jem
Bendell, catalyst for the Deep Adaptation movement, is a big fan of Open
Space and has been promoting a number of Deep Adaptation gatherings around
the world specifically using Open Space format.

All best wishes,

Yes, me too, I´ll start moving the idea in Bilbao and through the
Basque OS-LIST, and let´s see what happens!

As the context and conversation on climate change is so hot, I´m
providing you, besides, with some interesting reading.

We not having a TV set home, nor smartphone, nor being very connected
to social media, I was some weeks ago surprised with the great
global impact of Greta Thunberg´s action and inspired to search, *"who
 is behind Greta Thunberg?". *

I got directly to these pieces that I´m reading with great interest: The

Depending on the views of the sponsors I guess we will invite to a
 variety of OS events.

We are having some interesting conversations on the topic, really, and
it´ll be a pleasure to see how OST helps.

 Enjoy the day, enjoy life!

 Dear friends,

I reckon many remember that Harrison and many friends have been doing for
years a set of OST events under the theme "Open Space for Peace and High

You also know that the current UN Secretary-General, the Portuguese
António Guterres (who happens to have been my companion in high school and
at the University), recently convened a UN climate summit.

You, my friends, do not ignore too the dramatic situation of the climate

planet to live in, as, at least for the moment, there is no other planet
with the necessary conditions for life...

Today, in a private mail exchange, it occurred to me to challenge you,
based on what HO once did: to do, all over the world where there are
facilitators, public OST sessions on climate change and what needs to be
 done to alleviate the problems.

Each of us will know better, in every concrete situation, who to invite
and what concrete goals to make explicit (or not).

What do you think of my suggestion?

Thanks Artur for the invitation, and all of you for the energy one can feel!

Yes, me too, I´ll start moving the idea in Bilbao and through the Basque
OS-LIST, and let´s see what happens!

As the context and conversation on climate change is so hot, I´m providing
you, besides, with some interesting reading.

We not having a TV set home, nor smartphone, nor being very connected to
social media, I was some weeks ago surprised with the great global impact
of Greta Thunberg´s action and inspired to search, *"who is behind Greta
Thunberg?". *

I got directly to these pieces that I´m reading with great interest: The
Manufacturing of Greta Thunberg- for consent

Depending on the views of the sponsors I guess we will invite to a variety
of OS events.

We are having some interesting conversations on the topic, really, and
it´ll be a pleasure to see how OST helps.

Enjoy the day, enjoy life!

Dear friends,

Stay safe

Re: [OSList] A proposal for many worlwide OST events on "Climate Change and the Future of Earth"

2019-10-01 Thread Lise Damkjær via OSList

Hi Karl

I love the idea of doing it our own way the different places. It is an
easy way, that's good too.
I think I could use the theme as Artur put it "Climate Change and the
Future of Earth" - and my own expression (maybe in danish) underneath -
and then refer to "the world wide OST's around this topic" and mention
some of the places around the world along as they occure and we hear
about them here on the list.

Greetings
Lise

Do you think we might co-ordinate around a date and maybe an invitation? Just

maybe cross refer and look for themes?

Thoughts?

live in, as, at least for the moment, there is no other planet with the
necessary conditions for life...
Stay safe
Artur
