Thanks for the advise, I've been trying CamSam and that seems to be a good
solution. I'll give up trying to get the speed cameras to alert in Osmand
and use CamSam. Thanks again.

As it looks like most of the speed cameras have not been added to the map
correctly & it not really practical for me to search and change every
single one in the country, is it possible for Osmand to give an alert when
approaching a speed camera POI
I don't know mapfactor but some other apps that use OSM for the base map
(e.g. Magic Earth) add in speed cameras from another source as far as I can
tell.

is a mapping issue, I have tried Mapfactor which also uses Openstreetmaps
and that works, just tried on the example road I gave in last post.

In OpenStreetMap, a speed camera is not a very simple object: a relation
must be established between the camera itself and the monitored road/street.
