Re: Is it possible to import a list of POI from a spreadsheet?

2019-05-27 Thread Helmut Jarausch
Hi, you don't need to programme anything. You can transfer the file
favourites.gpx from your mobile
(/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/favourites.gpx) to your PC.
There you can use a text editor (or spreadsheet software) to generate the
entries mentioned in my previous mail. Again, using a text editor you can
add (all of) your entries before the last line (containing ).
Then copy this modified file to your mobile at the very same place where
got it from. The term has to be replaced by either your internal
or external SD card depending on where OSMAND has stored this file and
maps, etc.

Re: Is it possible to import a list of POI from a spreadsheet?

2019-05-27 Thread J Albrecht
Hello Boris,

Perhaps the following may help:

POI
“Point of Interest” files can be imported into OsmAnd and saved as “Favourites”.
Suitable import files include:
kml
gpx

kml
Create or download a kml file containing POI references.
Save the file on the Android device
Open the file with OsmAnd
This should happen automatically. If not, choose “Open with…”
Open “My Places”. The kml file will be loaded into Import > Tracks
Select the file.
Touch the “3 Vertical Dots” icon to the right off the Search icon
Select “Add to Favourites”
Activate the “Points” check box
Touch the Favourites icon (the Star)
IMPORTANT: Define the name for this group of favourites

If the above steps are not followed precisely, the POIs will not be saved to a
Favourites group. Rather, every POI within the imported kml file will be saved
as an individual file in the general “Favourites” folder

gpx
POIs can be created from gpx files which are either self-created or downloaded
from Google Maps

Re: Is it possible to import a list of POI from a spreadsheet?

2019-05-27 Thread Boris Feldblyum
Thank you, Helmut for taking the time to reply.

Unfortunately, I am not a programmer and do not understand your advice and
what to do.

Here is what I did and what am trying to do right now.

I tried to add a friend’s address as point of interest (POI) on both OSMAND
and MAPS.ME while the apps were open but neither worked. I think MAPS.ME
allowed me to view the entire street but no house number.

I did the same on Google/MYMAPS and there it worked. In total, I put 3 test
POI on the map, across several US states and then exported the data into a
KML file - on my desktop.

Next, I emailed the file to myself.

Next, I touched-opened it on my Android phone. The MAPS.ME icon appeared. I
assumed it meant that MAPS.ME imported the KLM data, but I could net see
the POI on the map.

If I uninstall MAPS.ME from my phone, will OSMAND automatically open/import
KLM data?

Thank you!

Re: GPS Coordinates? How to find.

2019-05-27 Thread Helmut Jarausch
You can use the Android app "maps coordinates".
This app seems to use the Google server.
It can export the coordinates to the clip stack.

Have a look at the file favourites.xml in OSMAND data folder.
You have to extend this file with entries like, where you have to modify
lat / lon,
the name tag, the type tag and the color tag.
Mind to insert your entries before the final
 tag.

Hi Tomek,
Of course you can create your own maps. All that you need is the
*OsmAndMapCreator* program, a proper JAVA Runtime Environment... and a PC
with *a lot* of memory (depending on how big is the raw file you're
processing).

You can find some useful info here:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OsmAndMapCreator.
HTH.

However, I don't think generating one single, huge .obf file is (anymore)
necessary: when the old search algorithm was used, this was a major issue
since the search would only take place only on the map you specified (you
were forced to know in advance in which package the searched location was).
The current search routine, instead, looks into every active map present in
your device, so there's no difference in having one comprehensive map or
many regional maps installed.

Cheers,
Max
