Picking the same destination both on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ and racing it
against my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, the Tab 2 wins by far, the Galaxy S8+ just
sits there wondering which route to take. Galaxy S8+ has a faster processor,
yet is beaten by the Tab2, a much older unit! Any help would be

Same problem as Andy. ie I set to 10 seconds. Screen turned on OK before
turns but would not turn off except manually.
I've now set it to 5 secs, and done a device re-start. Will try again
tomorrow.

IIRCyou have to set the duration you wish it to remain "On", eg 10 secs,
then get moving and turn the screen off - (Presumably a brief touch of your
device's physical On/Off button).
I'm very pleased to hear this excellent facility has returned, and am
looking forward to testing it.
We are currently cycling across Europe and yesterday I switched the map style
to Touring View. Has some nice details!

Just tried using this feature on a ride and the screen turned on just fine but
it wouldn't turn off. Tried 10seconds, 5seconds and none (which deactivated).
Also tried with proximity detection on and off. No luck, screen just wouldn't
switch off again. Anyone else see this? Any suggestions?

I don't see the necessity either. You have 500MB to maybe 10GB on your
SD-card maps. And another 50~150Kb on other data. Why separate that?

My observation was that the destination is gone when I stop/pause the
routing - because I prepared it earlier, but did not want the lady talk
to me all the time with "gps signal lost", while I did not start yet.
Personally, I'm glad to see a search history - and I am disappointed
