Interesting question!
I can't instantly see why not. Obviously you are limited to just signal and
return (I want to have power on one of my lines also), but that can be
worked around.
All the books suggest cat5 cable. Well, I'm old enough to have had ethernet
system over coax, so why not 1-wire ove

Hi All,
Could someone suggest/recommend a suitable temperature sensor or point
me to a circuit schematic for a temp sensor?
*HOWEVER*, it must have a separate 'alarm' pin, or means to achieve this.
To clarify - a standard DS1820 will sense temp, and will internally
know that current conditions ar

Change that - it appears that a PRT (or RTD) might be the way forward,
rather than a thermocouple.

Hi,
A quick question (though I am sure that there isn't a quick answer!)
I'm looking at building a new system, after my current server died.
I've been looking at the standard devices with the intention of using the
same system as a media server/home entertainment system, etc. However, I
can't fin

Looks interesting - I hadn't come across this one. Thanks.
I wonder what it's base OS is. A linux variant?

And it was 29 quid on tesco direct...
But they don't have any left!!!

While researching for something else, I came across this link.
Useful if you want to prototype...

I know this is rather premature - however...
When these go on general sale, I suspect that they might be rather popular.
I will be getting one, specifically for 1-wire stuff.
Now, I have never (successfully) done any cross compilation.
Could someone start on a HOWTO for dummies for this device -
While we are on this subject (and apologies for slightly diverting the
original thread):
My previous network was the standard, single wire, with the controller
at one end of the long wire - as per recommendation.

Hi All,
This may, or may not, be applicable to this list. However, I am hoping
that someone here knows enough about MicroLAN to be able to clarify
something for me.
Up to know, all my sensors have been polled. Simplistically speaking,
the PC asks "What is the temperature now?"

Hello All,
Thanks for the replies. (Sorry for any delay in replying - I only
logon at intervals).
Everything so far is as I understood it. My problem is that I don't
actually understand it properly - but because I am at the point of
designing a new system, I need to.

Hello Elroy,
Thanks for the reply.

Oh! Please don't interpret my comment as a statement that you are wrong!
It was simply referencing what I
Hi All,
I have 30 temperature sensors sitting in front of me at the moment.
They all report different readings when queried - which I would like
to fix on a reasonably permenant basis.
Can someone advise how I go about calibrating them? There is, as far
as I remember, a register I can save into,
hat looks easy to fix:
