Megan,
I have heard that Paul Bretz is a good ob and is into evidence based care
with little or No intervention practises. He is in Mater Private.
I have not personally met him but friends have advised me he is good.
Set a meeting to sus him out.

I've asked on the ukmid list about Practising Midwife, and someone said that they had managed to access the practisingmidwife.com previously, but, it was now not available. However, even when it was available, you were not able to access any of the articles online.

Linda, Echuca Regional Health has them and I have watched them some time ago but can't remember much about them. You could ring Mary Byrne, who does the teenage education classes on 03 54820221. She is there on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

I like to think they do it with the woman's permission. Imagine going to theatre for a procedure and finding out that while you were there half a dozen med students had a go at sicking their fingers in your vagina without your permission. I thought the word for that was RAPE

Midwives [or at least
most of us] recognise the erkyness of having a ve. So we ask, ask,

Student Midwives gain consent from the women, in most cases the
supervising midwife would gain consent as the women often feel bad about
saying no directly to the student. The woman is aware that the midwife is

Student midwives learn pelvic exams by actually caring for the woman and then
requesting to be allowed to follow an experienced midwives examination of the cervix
with their own attempt. A negative answer is respected. Many women are happy to say
yes.

I am happy for them to reprint my email and thanks for the other info.
