I knowa number of women
in QLD who haven't been allowed anyone and their dp has been sent home during
labour. All in the last 2-3 years.

Up here too they say 2, althoughmany of the
midwives consider a doula to not be counted as part of the 2 and will be open to
more besides. Obviously the idea is to restrict it to only those there with a
purpose not crowd the midwives ability to work
If we encouraged Spectator Galleries
when people are having sex, they would be branded as Perverted and the
spectators as Perverts. This is no different. Maybe the reporting is
sensationalist? Still, it is a long way from the undisturbed birthing
