Re: [PacketFence-users] No association between user and IP (or MAC) in logs

2015-10-14 Thread Nicola Canepa
Also, while looking at the code, I put the logging statement in
"pf::node::node_register", so now (with your suggested change, in
"captiveportal::PacketFence::Controller::CaptivePortal::webNodeRegister") I
have 2 logs for the same thing.
Which one is better?
Would the node.pm -> node_register change also affect differenti types
of logins (maybe via WPA2 auth or similar?)

In the meanwhile, thank you for the prompt solution.

Nicola

[PacketFence-users] Internet Explorer web admin access

2015-10-14 Thread Morris, Andi
I'm getting trouble accessing the web admin interface when using IE11. This
seems to be ok using PacketFence version 5.1, but not 5.3.1 or 5.4.0. Login
access is ok, but the nodes and users tabs just sit there with the 3 dots just
flashing as if the browser is waiting. The search box doesn't render properly
either.

All other browsers seem to be ok.

I'm happy using Chrome, but we're trying to push a guest user registration form
to staff, and a lot of them will have the default browser of IE11 unfortunately.

Happy to send screenshots if it helps.

Cheers,
Andi

Dear Derek,
Thanks for your quick response. I think I could not describe
my problem/query properly.

DHCPD is running on only one interface (eth0) of my PF server, no
issue with that.

Actually at the WAN side (upstream) of my PF server there is another
DHCP server is running (though PF server WAN has static IP). Since
pfdhcplistener is running at eth1(WAN) also, in the node (web)page I
can see many unregistered nodes of WAN network which I don't want.

I want to see only those nodes in the webpage which are under PF
server and who are getting IP addresses from DHCP server running in
PF server (on eth0). Hope pfdhcplistener on eth0 only can catch those.

So I want to run only one instance of pfdhcplistener on interface
eth0 (pfdhcplistener_eth0). Please let me know how can I do that.

Thanks again Derek.

Chinmay,

The packetfence server is working as a DHCP server.
I see that two pfdhcplisteners are running: *pfdhcplistener_eth0*,
*pfdhcplistener_eth1*.

But I want to run only one pfdhcplistener viz.
*pfdhcplistener_eth0*. Can it be possible (or it may cause other
problem)? Which config item do I need to modify for that?

‘pfdhcplistener’, as its name says, listen for dhcp packets.
PacketFence starts a ‘pfdhcplistener’ daemon on each of the required
network interfaces (in this case, management and inline).

‘pfdhcplistener’ is not acting as a DHCP server, dhcpd is.
‘pfdhcplistener’ is only listening to DHCP packet for MAC <-> IP
association useful in PacketFence.

If you do a
ps uafx | grep dhcpd
you should see the dhcpd daemon running with only eth0 as listening
interface.

Cheers!

[PacketFence-users] AD users not authenticating through portal

2015-10-14 Thread Morgan, Darren
Hi,

Probably a bit of a 'noob' question but I'm trying to find out why my AD users
are not authenticating through the web portal. I have a domain / realm sorted,
and sources are configured and test works on them, but when I input a username
and password it comes up with "Invalid login or password"

If I log in with the PacketFence admin password I get " Sorry You do not have
the permission to register a device with this username"

Can someone point me in the right direction to diagnose this issue. i.e. which
logs can I look in (and where will they be?)

Using latest version (5.4.o) and all services running.

[PacketFence-users] Using Multiple SNAT Interfaces Problem

2015-10-14 Thread Nathan, Josh
Hello all,

So... I see where PacketFence has the option to specify that there are
multiple SNAT interfaces, but I've not found where/all to specify which one
to use... Here's what I want to do.

Within an Inline environment, I want to specify that VLAN 15 (ex. eth0.15)
reaches the Internet via eth1, and VLAN 16 (eth0.16) reaches the Internet
via eth2. Is there a built-in way for PacketFence to do that? In the
networks.conf file I see the NATing enabled or disabled option, but I
haven't see where I can flag different internal interfaces to use different
SNAT interfaces.

[PacketFence-users] Suricata alerts to Packet Fence (Derek Wuelfrath)

2015-10-14 Thread Boley, Chris
Hi Derek, on your last suggestion I basically replaced syslogd on freebsd with
syslog-ng so as to more easily mimic your instructions:
You had suggested some syslog-ng config changes.
I put them verbatim right in the bottom of the cfg file without modifying
anything else. Seemed like the easiest route to take.

filter f_suricata { match('suricata:' value("MSGHDR")); };
destination d_suricata { tcp("192.168.5.10"); };
log { source(src); filter(f_suricata); destination(d_suricata); };

On the middle (destination) line, should that be UDP and not TCP? Syslog is
typically UDP 514. Otherwise it looks like the desired effect is happening.

A quick netstat shows:

root@suricata:/usr/ports/sysutils/syslog-ng # netstat
Active Internet connections
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address(state)
tcp4 0 0 192.168.5.249.25801192.168.5.10.shell SYN_SENT

Thanks.

That is not related.

What Chinmay is asking is basically that PacketFence to stop listening for DHCP
packet (pfdhcplistener) on management interface to avoid node table getting
populated by nodes outside of the PacketFence inline network.

Thanks Derek,
That’s been a really big help and I’m nearly there. What is the format for the
date field? I’ve tried the following, but I get errors:

The errors I get when creating a user are:
Error! Expiration field is required
Error! ‘expiration’ is not a valid value

The values for dates I’ve tried are:
“-mm-dd”
“/mm/dd”
“-mm-dd hh:mm”
“/mm/dd hh:mm”

Cheers,
Andi

[PacketFence-users] No association between user and IP (or MAC) in logs

2015-10-14 Thread Nicola Canepa
Hello.
Since I updated from 4.1 to 4.7, I cannot find anymore in the logs the line
> performing node registration ...

> register.cgi(0) INFO: performing node registration MAC:
> XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX pid:  (pf::web::_sanitize_and_register)

which I used to associate user to its activity (in case of need).
Is it possible to have this restored by configuring logs somewhere?

Thank you

That was part of the old captive portal mechanisms (CGI). This code have been
removed.
To cover the case you want (a node registers through the captive-portal), you
may want to add a logging statement to the “WebNodeRegister” method in
/usr/local/pf/html/captive-portal/lib/captive-portal/PacketFence/Controller/CaptivePortal.pm

Cheers!

Thanks Fabrice

I have a doubt.

I read in the PF administration guide that there is a problem with module Net

this module already comes installed with the PF? or must be installed?

I think that's why the PF can not call the nessus to scan the client.

Thank you, but I noticed there is not a "custom.pm" for CaptivePortal.
Isn't there a more update-resistant way?
