Are you sure the disk you're inserting doesn't already have something on it?
When I use a disk that turned into a coaster by mistake, I get a similar
error.

I am trying to burn an audio disc with mp3 files using Windows Media 11. After
loading the files, 11 total, I select: write these files to cd. Tabbing past
the wizzard to: next button, spacebarring the files begin to burn in a beta
format, with: initializing image; I do not get the menu to
to audio,
tab to new,
click on it,
copy the files there,
use ctrl + b to burn,
tab to burn, and you should be on your way.

folder and opening the wizard, pressing the NEXT space bar, the burn begins
immediately in a beta format. I previously burned 6 audio discs with the
audio-beta selection. I found nothing on the drive properties to
