Hello Anthony:
you could use either
1. gold wave
2 mp3 clip
both of them work great but goldwave is much quicker and you can do more
with it.
you can find the mp3 clip on the jfwlite home page under programs
http://www.jfwlite.com
also there is a link for the goldwave page where you can try out a demo.

I would like to be able to record online shows that I won't be able to hear

record the program onto a hard drive for later listening? I want one that
will also have an accessible timer I can start in case I can't be right

For shoutcasting recording I use Mediarecorder which does have a timer and
a shceduler for later recording. If you want to record from windows media
or real I can't offer suggestions but mediarecorder is a freeware program
and it works terrific for recording shoutcast streams.

Re: Total Recorder

2005-02-21 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,
I record shows from the net with total recorder pro and I'm using
v5.1 as well. I use the sound board and not software to record from the
web, but I put my creative audigy to recording what you hear. If you use
software speech, this too will be recorded, as well as windows sounds,
etc. What I do is put the total recorder into ready to record position by
pressing shift-tab once. You're now on the record buttton. I then go to
window-eyes and shut it down with alt-f4. After responding to the request
about certainty, we shuts down and I'm back in total recorder, ready to
press the space bar to begin recording. Pressing the space bar again stops
recording and puts you on the play button. A press of the space bar will
play your recording. Alt-f and a brings up the save as and you can save
your recording. Hth,
Rusty
At 08:28 PM 2/19/2005, Peter Scanlon spake thusly:-
OK, first thing to do is go into the Recording source and parameters.
You can jeither tab around to it in the main screen or find it in the menus.

By the way what version of TR are you using.
I am about to install 5.1. So by the time you reply to this I will be
working with that. So if you do that also we can be working the same interface.

So open up the Recording source and parameters dialogue. box.
First thing I see now is a radio button with two choices you can arrow up
or down to. For recording from Microphone or radio or other external
source choose Sound Board. I bet that is what you have now if your
microphone tests are working.

Change to Software for recording from the Net.
There two ways to record. either manual or by schedule. to change the
setting described above is simillar but you do it from the Shedule page.

Try a test. Change as I have said, and get a stream up and press record.
Then press stop, then close the stream, then press play in TR.

Get back to me.

I know very little about Total Recorder, and the more I try and explore,

I have an external microphone hooked up to it right now, and that is
working OK.
However, I know that I can record internet broadcasts as well. I must
not have the right settings going or something because when I try and
record from the web, nothing happens.
Are there different settings I need to choose? I honestly don't know if
I have the right settings chosen for what I need now.

So, can you help me with recording from the web? Also, there is one
thing I'd love to record tomorrow, but I won't be home to do
that. However, I know that I can set a timer for this, but again, I
can't get it to work right.

I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to thesee things. grin

Of course, the manually-intensive way of tagging your files is to use

Why tag? There are programs out there that use the tag information to
build databases of MP3 files for advanced selection modes that would
not ordinarily be available by filename only, unless your filename

Hi, Joanne, total recorder is very good, though I've not used their
scheduler, but you can go to
http://www.highcriteria.com
to learn more. There is a standard version which is $13, and a
professional version which is $40. With the current version, 5.1, you
can record if the program isn't registered, but there will be a noise
inserted in to the program every minute, until you register the
program.

Ipod Shuffle

2005-02-21 Thread Jim Fettgather
Hi there, I am attempting to confirm a suspicion with the Ipod Shuffle, and
that is that music must indeed be transfered from the PC using the Itunes
software. I could not get it to work using Windows Explorer, although it
makes a fine jump drive when using this method to transfer files.
I believe that I had read that a new version of Anapod Explorer will
eventually support an alternative method to the Itunes program, but I also
wanted to make certain that Windows Explorer is not an option, unless I am
doing something incorrectly.

As far as i know, any ipod will not work with windows explorer for
transfering music and after listening it, because ipod makes special

However i also found that anapod explorer will be updated for ipod shuffle

I want to suggest replay-radio as another option for recording streams. It
records other things, but its primary function is to allow for the
scheduling and recording of streams from the internet and in addition to
adding something new or recording something one stumbles across on the net,
one can manually input a show, url, and times or choose a station from the
long list already predefined and choose a time, or choose a show from the
user provided list in which case the station, times, and whether it is
daily, weekly, and the like will already be filled in. You can, of course,
change any of the provided data.
