Tools for planning audio CD burn
I have heaps of mp3 files that I want to burn to CDs, creating CDs with various themes. I am presently creating a folder for each CD, and prepending track numbers to the file names to order them. The trouble I run into is calculating the total length of the collection to make sure that I am gathering one CD's worth of tracks into a folder. I'd love to have a Windows Explorer extenssion that would add a estimated length column to the Windows Explorer detail view and display a total length for selected files in the status bar. In the few burning programs I have tried, I have found organizing files for burning to be clumsy. None support cut/pastes from Windows Explorer to the burn list, for instance. I always have to use the JAWS cursor to hunt down the space remaining on the CD as I am compiling a burn list, etc. I wish I could find better tools. I imagine there are several other JAWS users out there who do quite a bit of this and have found more efficient methods. How do you other JAWS users do this? What tools and programs do you use? Nero 6 ultra adddition, and earlier versions also support copy and paste operations from windows explorer. But remember, you aren't just limited to audio cd's. With a data cd you can get a hundred tracks or more on a single cd, which makes storing ever so much easier! Goldwave Control Properties?
I recently reconfigured my soundcards and associated hardware devices. I need to adjust my Goldwave settings accordingly. But, first, I need a refresher on which controls apply to which functions. On the Volume tab of the control Properties dialogue, there is a combo box to select an audio device, and, on the Device tab of the same dialogue, there are two more combo boxes to select an audio device. Which of these three determines the device from which Goldwave will take input to be recorded, and what functions to the other two control? Thank you. Blessed Be, Dana D. S. Leslie, née C. R. Re: A version of Skype that works with Win 98 SE?
Here's the official word from the Skype knowledge base: Can I use Skype with Windows 98 or Windows ME? Because it hasn't been fully tested, we have not yet certified Skype for use with these operating systems. Skype may work with Windows 98 (Win98)or ME but we cannot yet guarantee compatibility. Some WinME/9x video (and possibly others) drivers tend to use 100% of processor for their needs for relatively long periods of time. This can cause the audio quality to degrade significantly. In addition, WinME/9x does not offer full unicode support, which means that some things may not display properly. Skype does not work on WinNT at the moment. We may support these platforms in the future and will make any future announcements on our website. -- Bruce Toews E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Mon, 8 Aug 2005, nick G wrote: No version of Skype worked with Win 98 SE. Navigate to the files you'd like to store onto the dvd. Remember, you're making a data compilation, not music. Press control t to add the selection to you dvd, either a file at a time, or a folder at a time. You can route your mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen, and move it up a line at a time to hear how much room remains on the dvd. They hold 4.5 gigs of data. If you put more than 4 gigs on, you'll get a warning message that after burning, the dvd will be closed. I use dvd's to archive a lot of data. Whether you'll be able to play these mp3's on a player depends on what the player supports. My dvd player is old enough, about four years, that it will not play dvd's or cd's that I've burned. I have players that will play mp3 cd's. I suspect that there is, or some day will be, a player that can play any format. Hope this helps. I imagine if this is possible then you could perhaps contain an artists complete discography on one DVD? I'm assuming a DVD has more than 1 Gig of space, otherwise you'd just place the discography on a regular CD. Which is fine if you only have a discography of 8 albums or so. But if an artists discography amounts to some 15 albums, then a DVD with the space of perhaps 2 Gigs would certtainly be the way to go. If this is the way you went and you placed all of an artists discography on one DVD in mp3 format, could you then play that DVD on a stereo slash mp3 player? Hmmm. Now 14 Cat Stevens mp3 albums on one DVD playing all day on one DVD disc. Man I'd be teasing Buddha in Katmandoo with a chocolate bull at four on a broken morning in room C79 while I waited for the peace train.
